Removing Cargo Doors

There has been some discussion here recently on the removal of a cargo door from the coach.
Well now I have to do the same thing to get it repaired.
Looking at the attached photo's, are these the "BLOCKS" that have to be removed to get the door off?

Dave,

Thank you for the pictures. Country Coach calls these "side door keepers" and without these your basement doors could fall off. They make left and right keepers.

Thanks for the input Leon... But for those who have had to take a door off, I just want to make sure... ARE THESE WHAT YOU HAVE TO REMOVE TO TAKE OFF A BASEMENT OR CARGO DOOR?

Yes they are Dave. I'm replacing one of mine now. These are made from plastic and if you don't remove them before taking the door off, you will break them. There are left and right which are made for each side of the door, so make sure you order the correct one you need. You can purchase some from http://rcvcustomcoach.com/oscommerce/. You have perform an easy modification for these to work. Country Coach is currently having a mold made so they can stock them once again (no time frame given).

Leon,

Was one of the blocks broken, or did it break when your tried to remove it? It appears at this time that I will have to remove the door to get it fixed correctly, should I purchase the right and left hand side, just in case something breaks? Thanks for the link to where to get them.

Dave, one of my blocks broke because when my wife pushed the slide from the other side. Lesson learned: make sure the other side of the slide is cleared before it is closed. You should not have to remove your door because you have to remove the blocks before you can remove the door. You will have to remove your struts. Just remove the two screws, remove the broken block, and install the new block. I will tell you that you will most likely need an impact screw gun because the screws can be very difficult to remove. One of my screws broke off so I just drilled it out and installed a new screw. I would purchase a couple of the blocks. These are not the correct parts as you can see in the picture on the site compared to yours. Just cut the part in two where you see the scoring in the block. When you cut them in two, then you will have one for the left and right side. E-mail me with your phone number if you need any more clarification. Leons1@...
