Small wheels vs large

When I went through the factory late last year I was told that there would be no more single axle units over thirty-eight feet on the Allure and Intrigue product line. The rationale seemed to be that with increasing weight the tag axle was needed to take care of the heavier loads being carried.
Then along comes the Inspire, which in the forty-foot version is a heavy coach according to the specifications. And guess what. It not only has a single rear axle it also has smaller wheels then current Allures and Intrigues.
What's the real story? Will we see a return to smaller wheels on the Allure and Intrigue and single axle forty-foot units?

Can anyone explain what is happening?

Dave,

The Inspire is a lighter coach so they can use the 275 low profile tires. Now the Inspires are being built with 11R tires (better appearance) to fill in the wheel wells. Should look great. The Allures on up wil continue to use the 12R tires.

Hi Dave,

Your Intrigue has a GVWR of 33,200. with the 12R tires. The 2000 Intrigue with the 275 tires had a GVWR of 32,300.
The big difference is going to be wet weight between the two coachs, not GVWR. I will try to grab some wet weights off Inspires and post them.
