Hello Group,

Well, we had an issue with our coach not starting while at the rally in Louisiana. After spending 3 1/2 weeks at the diesel shop in Lafayette, they had it running again, but I could tell that they were not really comfortable that they truly had found the culprit, and winced a little as we drove the coach home. We got home, and even camped for a couple of days in it. Took it home to its' garage, and then when Allan went to crank it yesterday, same thing AGAIN!! The key cranks it, batteries good, but engine will not engage. ANY ideas out there? We are baffled.
We live near Denton, Tx. Kay and Allan Neubauer with our 2010 360 Inspire. It has the 425 Cummins. Thanks

I had an issue with the accumulator section of the injection pump that was caught early enough to keep me from being grounded, too. Have your oil checked to see if diesel fuel is contaminating your oil. That would mean there is the possibility of fuel starving to the engine. Check your oil and see if feels abnormally thin between your fingers and if the smooth lubricating properties are there or does the oil feel thin and you can feel the texture of your fingers. If you can you have issues. If the oil looks grey you have a blown head gasket and water is getting in the fuel. There was a recall on some ISL about piping between the lift pump and the injection pump which if not caught in time ill cause the Injection pump to fail as I had happen previously with my ISC engine. If your repairs were done at Cummins previously then your local Cummins facility should honor your 90 day repair warranty.
Have you checked your fuel filters, have there been any warning lights. Do you have any sign of fuel leaking on the ground under the filters. There have been issues with the fuel line fittings between the filters and the lift pump and the injection pump allowing air in the system causing a vacuum lock.

Thanks for the feedback Thomas. I will take this to hubby and have him check all these things.
The air vaccuum is interesting. We had the fuel filters changed, and then they tightened up some fuel lines, and this began following that work. This may be the issue, and when they worked on it in Louisiana, possibly they got a temporary fix on that airlock.. Hum will check out further. Thanks Kay Neubauer n our new Intrigue

I can only guess about your problem but I can tell you of my engine issues and the cause.
I had a Dodge that the Cummins started to cut out on the highway, and then it would come back. Then it would or would not start, depending on its mood. The third 'expert' that looked at it found a loose wire connector at the fuel shut-off valve and a squeeze with pliers fixed it.
It sounds to me that your coach runs well when it starts, so I would guess that all the basic systems are working properly. I would look at the electrical connectors that pertain to the fuel system at the engine, under the dash, solenoids etc. I would look for looseness or corrosion. My 2000 Magna is Cat powered, and I have fixed a few of my electrical issues just by pulling connectors apart and reconnecting them.

Intermittent problems are tough to find, I hope this helps.

We had a problem last year when the engine quit on the highway. A local shop in Kerrville could not find the problem, and Caterpillar struggled to find it as well. Turned out it was a corroded fuse holder furnishing power to the engine computer. Maybe worth a check! Per

The diesel shop in Lafayette spent 3 1/2 weeks looking for something like that, and could not find it.
But, I will ask Allan about the fuel shut off valve. I have not heard him talk about that. Do you know where it is located? THanks Kay

Allan is going over ALL of the fuses and connectors as we s peak. But fust to the engine computer, hum will look.

If you don't get an answer here, we have had great service at Cummins Coach Care in Tulsa OK. Might be worth giving them a call. We have been there 3x and we live in Florida! Great service, reasonable prices.
