Smart Tire sensors

Our '07 coach has the Smart Tire sensors that transmit to the Silverleaf gizmo in the dash. I have read that this system is no longer available. I also read that 7 years is about the max for the batteries in the sensors. Mine all seem to be working for now.

Does anyone know if there are replacement sensors available or if the batteries in my existing sensors can be replaced? We will be in JC in July and I might consider having someone install new sensors if that might be a possibility.

Hello! I have a 2006 Inspire and had Smart Tire installed after market. I just put new tires on my coach and wanted to replace the sensors because of their age and battery lenght concerns. I ordered new censors from Les Swab in Junction City. They told me Smart Tire was purchased and the new owners do not want to work with the RV industry, just long haul trucking. They told me they bought up all the remaining inventory. It seems to me that long haul trucking would work on Motor Homes but I also wanted to replace the tow car sensors so maybe that was the new problem.

Kevin.... I believe I have the pressure Pro Sensors with my Silverleaf VMS 240 CL. Nice that they interface directly with the VMS, although it is disappointing they are one of the few TPMS manufactuurers which don't have Flowthru sensors. I also read that the batteries are not replaceable. You have to buy new sensors. PressurePro is claiming six to seven years of life for the batteries in their sealed sensors. Does that match your own experience? I guess we'll find out if that is true. My coach is a 2010 so I guess I have a few years left. Is battery life dependant on usage at all? I.E., if the coach is running and they are constantly transmitting to the VMS vs when the coach is parked and the system is off? Just curious. In any case, with a tag axle coach, that is 10 sensors... and if the price is around $50 apiece (which is what I read elsewhere) and that is $500 for new sensors. Pretty ridiculous when batteries would be a few bucks each for another system.

I had bought a Hawshead Talon system for my Country Coach http://www.tpms.ca/TALON.html
It has flowthru sensors and replaceable batteries and I was very pleased with it. I think the whole system cost me around $750 if I recall correctly and that was with 4 extra sensors for the Towed. And the sensors can be locked on the stem with a tiny allen wrench.. a nice feature to keep them from disappearing. I hung onto the system when I traded in the coach so I will probably switch over to using it when the PressurePro sensors start dying.
A separate question though on the PressurePro sensors. When I got my new tires, a few of them were losing air at first... I took them back to Les Schwab and they told me the sensors were at fault and needed to be tightened. Since you have to take these buggers off every time you add air, is there any trick to tightening them? Should you just crank them by hand as tight as you can make them? Is there any conditioner or anything one can use to enhance the seal... kinda like using vaseline on threads in other applications?
I searched around online and found precious little on how to use the Silverleaf VMS 240 CL with the PressurePro sensors... if you have an info link on that it would be much appreciated. For example my temperature readings are all reading 100 all the time. Not sure what that is about. I read elsewhere wireless thermometers can interfere with the trie temp readings. We have one of those so I am gonna take that out of the coach and see if that is the cause. Seems weird... are there any other issues that could cause this? Are the temperature readings on the Silverleaf VMS 240 CL able to be reset? Any advice appreciated.

I think these Smart Tire sensors last much longer. Our coach is 14 years old with 60,000 miles and all six sensors still work just fine.

PressurePro sensors are on unless you remove them, which I do when I won't be using the MH for an extended period therefore the batteries last longer. SmartTire I believe turn on after you reach a certain speed, although it is nice to be able to check the tire pressures before you start out! Should be 12 sensors for normal MH w/ tag and a toad.
I'm at seven years now with PressurePro and expect to have to replace the sensors before very long but still getting a strong signal from all 12. I believe the replacement sensors are $35 if you return the old ones.
