Many older sat domes only have the ability to see one satellite at the time. I don't believe you can get HD with DirecTV via a dome satellite. Not sure about DISH Network.
If you are anywhere near Houston TX and need satellite help, contact Dave at Sats2Go. www.sats2go.com he is the satellite "guru" and added another LNB and wired our coach so that we can get satellite in the bedroom. His prices are very fair and his work is excellent.

On the KVH dome I used to have if I got even or odd without the other it was cable connections. I would remove and reconnect then turn on. You should make connections with power off to avoid any damage to the lnb. I did find the connection to the lnb in the dome finger loose when I removed the cover and never had any connection problems after tightening.
Could be something else but this is the problem I had.

I had the same problem with my Trak Star. A new LNB solved the issue. Now I am running the single LNB with dual output thru a Directv hd DVD and all is fine. Just no HD output. Only 480.

Craig,

I don't understand, where is there no HD output? On the LNB, Direct Box or something else? Thanks

Dave,

You cannot get an HD signal from Directv satellite with a single LNB such as the ones mounted in the dome on motor homes. But you can receive the signal from the satellite at 101 West Longitude which carries most of the Directv channels, but not all. You will be receiving a Standard Signal in 480p or 480i.

In order to get HD Directv in a coach you need a dish that receives the signal, a HD DVR and Directv HD service, and an an HD TV. All of these are available from various sources. The dish is about $1.4K to $1.8K for an automatic system that mounts on the roof plus installation.

Hope this helps.
