Carefree awning

Our awning will not retract if it is in the sun and gets too hot. Any idea why this might be happening? Larry and Linda

We have an '08 Intrigue, number 12234, we have a Carefree patio awning that when it has been extended for any amount of time, and it gets hot, (the casing is black), it will not retract until we put a cold rag on it to cool it down. Does anybody have any idea what might cause that and any idea how to fix it? Thanks for any help you can give.

The awning motor has a thermal breaker that is opening. Sounds like it may need to be replaced.
