2003 Intrique

Yahoo Message Number: 97324
We are looking at a 36 ft Intrique and wonder if the group can advise regarding "SWAYING OR BOUNCING" with such a short wheelbase? We had a 40ft. before. No experience with a 36 ft coach.
Thank You,
Chris

Hi--We have an '01 36' Intrigue which we bought new and have always been happy with the ride. Cannot compare with longer coach since we have not owned any. Early on we did reset the front Koni's stiffer and that eliminated the "motor boating" over RR tracks etc. We did own two previous coaches, both gas powered, one a 34' the other a 37' and our Intrigue rides so much better.

We have a 36' Intrigue, and the ride is excellent. The only "bouncing" we have experience has been on long bridge approaches that have uneven slabs of concrete surface, and noted everyone bouncing. Slowed down, and it smoothed right out.

The Koni SP1 (1st Generation) of the adjustable shock were a bit undersized for the 40' coaches of that era. Even on the highest setting, we "porpoise'd" over bumps and dips. Suspect the shock would handle the 36' OK. The newest SP3 (3rd generation) of Koni Adjustable, should for sure handle the 36' and probably do a good job on the front IFS of the 40' rings too.

We have a 40', and replaced the SP1 with Road Kings all around. But now that the SP3's are available, I think I would have been OK with these on the rear and tag, and only used Road Kings on the front.

We also added Super Steer Motion Control Units, and this also improved the handling of our 40' to 'set' faster while changing directions, like on S curved mountain driving. The MCU's are not expensive, and I have no doubt they'd enhance the ride/handling of the 36' coach too.

Every owner I've talked to with a 36' Country Coach, and smaller units down to 32', have always reported the handling and ride to be good. So I don't think even the stock suspension handling is any problem at all.

Best to you, and all,
Smitty

I have a 36 ft Intrique (for sale by the way). It rides great and has no bounce that I can detect and I have owned 40 footers, a 42footer and a 32 footer, so have some experience

If you are talking about the standard red/orangish Koni adjustable shocks, I don' think your problem is the shocks since I have those on my heavier 2002 Magna with about 95k miles on them with no porpoising or other problems to date. Of course the Magna's and Affinity's have completely different front suspensions than the other CC's. Perhaps you have much smaller Koni's or something?
