Save your money and put it in the bank instead. When we picked up our coach 30 months ago, the extended warranty was going to cost $5,000. We have yet to spend anywhere close to that amount on anything the warranty would have covered. However, if you know nothing about coaches and their systems, the extended warranty requires the dealer to go through the coach to meet the warranty com;pany requirements. Otherwise he will just fix the things you find. Keep in mind, for the money you will spend on the warranty, you can get a lot of repairs done. Country Coach is very helpful with new owners, even of older coaches. I took ours to the factory and had them go through it. Money much better spent. Also keep in mind, the warranty does not cover everything, despite what they want you to believe in their brochures.

Good advice. And remember ... unless things have recently changed, these aren't actually an "extended warranty." They're "service contracts." If it was an "extended warranty," it'd cover everything your regular warranty covers ... but for an extended period. But it isn't and it doesn't.
Perhaps more important than what the contract *does* cover, by the way, is what it *doesn't* cover ("exceptions"). If you do decide to buy one, regardless, you're advised to read every word on every page before signing it. Good luck.

When we bought our coach we checked out several warranties before deciding. We talked to our service guy and checked on prices. Based on his experience and the fact that you can buy it a year at a time we decided on the CSP from Good Sam. They guarantee the price for 3 or 4 years and you can pay quarterly or monthly if you choose.

I totally disagree with the save your money advice.
The first CC I purchased was preowned 18 mo old Magna.
I bought a DFS warranty. The warranty cost $5600. Over the next 18 mos. DFS paid out in repairs over $9500. I sold the Magna on the internet for a good price (a lot more $$ in my pocket than a tradein allowance!) because the warranty was transferable. I have DFS for my new coach. They have always paid every claim. Dale 2002 Affinity 6129 Email me for more info if you choose.

I purchased a used 2000 Allure from Lazy Days in June 2002. With it I also looked into an extended warranty plan. I looked at the National Warranty of Florida plan and it seemed to be just as good as many of the others. I purchased the Surpreme coverage with $100 deductable. That way it covers everything except the schedule maintenance items, adjustments unless there is a failed part and limits labor to a flat rate book. Some shops have a problem with the flat rate requirement and will often try to pass the extra labor to the customer. Find another shop if that is going to happen.
Otherwise, you may be paying for someone that is not trained and inefficient. So, far the only problem is how slow the shop gets paid. I have used it twice and it took 2-3 days each for the shop to get paid. In one case I think it was the shop's fault for not staying on top of the paperwork that needed to be turned in. Small repairs, the warranty company will just pay with their credit card.
Major repairs could get involved with having to wait for an adjustor to check the problem first before repairs are initiated.

As some else already mention, make sure you read and understand all the fine print before you sign. I took home a copy of the contract and read it at home before I took delivery of the coach. Insurance and warranty coverage is like any other risk. How much risk are you willing to take with or without coverage?

The cost of the extended warranty is negotiable. One CC owner (2002 or 2003 Allure) told me that he got it for $1500 rather than the $7000 that was first quoted. The salesman makes a commission on the warranty sale just like on the sale of the coach.

Hi Ree, I just read the email regarding the extended warranty. Yes, some are negotiable because they are a commisioned item for the sales person. Some contracts are a flat price and are not able to be negatiated. I do not think anyone could get as big a discount as you mentioned however. DFS is commisioned and I did a lot of research on the internet before purchasing ours. I was able to get a 40% discount which was great. If anyone wants the agents name and number I will be happy to give it to you.
