Wax the exterior of the coach?

Years ago I had the coach washed. I believe it was at the Fair view RV park in Portland, OR. I also asked if he would wax the coach, and he said you should not wax the coach because of the 'special' paint job on the coach. Consequently the coach has never been waxed, just washed. The coach still looks good, but think a wax job might improve it some. We bought the coach new and it is now 10 years old. Any comments?

My coach is now 14 years old. I hand wax it once a year and just use turtle wax. Not sure about the concerns with special paint but my coach still looks like new. It doesn't appear as though the wax has been harmful. Hope this helps! Steve

I have not heard this comment about NOT waxing your coach. My coach is approaching its' 14th year next month, with over 126,000 miles. We bought it new and spend about 6+ months a year on the road........Winters in Florida and Summers everywhere else, so the coach sees a lots of sun. During the other 5+ months the coach is in a garage.

Each year I have polished the coach with Meguiar's Wax in both the Spring and Fall. I also put a coat of 303 on the roof--(30 minute job). The polishing takes a couple of days, because I just do a little bit and then do something else while the wax drys.

People are surprised when I tell them the age of the coach as it still shines like new. The polishing has become a habit and gives me the opportunity to really look at every area of the coach to inspect for any problems with the fiberglass, etc.. So far, so good. This process seems to work well for me.

I wax our coach with Mequirs Tech Wax every summer. At 10 years old it still looks great. Also, helps with UV sprotection.

Has anyone used the dry-wash or the "solution"? as a long time product for cleaning/protecting the Coach's?

Yes. We have used Dri-Wash for 13 years on the RV and 3 years on a 40" teflon boat. The PO used Dri-Wash also.

Our Magna has never had soap or wax applied to my knowledge in its nearly 20 years except for prep for small touch up paint events. We do put Formula 303 on the gel coat on the roof center.

I have used Solution in the past. Looks good, however, I didn't think it lasted all that long. I use Maguires liquid for easy on and off application and long lasting. For tough spots I use Maguires cleaner wax.

When I have the coach washed and waxed professionally in Palm Desert, Brian uses Mequairs Tech wax

and other products. When I do it, I either use the same product or Dri-wash when on the road.

This year while in Durango, Co. my next door neighbor introduced me to Lucas Oil Company "Slick

Mist." I have been fighting the gradual failing of my 3M coating on the front of the coach. And this

product is turning it around restoring not only the look but the texture and elasticity of the coating. In addition by applying it before I move to the next destination bugs don't stick as readily as be fore and

when they do they wipe off more easily. A lot easier! I just drove into Love Bug territory near Houston

this week and the coach was spattered with a mild case of Love Bugss. They wiped off easily on the 3M;

where as usual I had to get out the razor blade for the front windshield.
I will admit that Napa's window

cleaner, like Eagle Ones 20/20 easily removes whats left.
I also use the Slick mist, available at Wal-mart, to coat the front and roof of the Honda CR-V so when I

am parked under trees the sap won't stick to the roof and hood of the SUV.
It works great, too, when

the car is being pulled down the road. Road grime, tar, bugs, exhaust products and water spots wipe

off easily. The product is a little pricey but the reduced effort in maintaining our vehicles are well worth it to me. The older I get anything that reduces effort is a big plus for me!

I've used DryWash now for over 5 years, on two Country Coaches. Usually apply twice a year and have been happy with the results. Especially good in parks where we are prohibited from washing due to water restrictions.

I use 303 on my tires and have for 9 years. 303 does not have any petroleum and is good for tires as well as roof. I replaced tires last year and tech wanted to why I was buying new tires. I said because the are 8 years old.

Wally, I have used DriWash, No Wet, and now use Wash Wax All. All of them work as advertised but I like the Wash Wax All system with the mop so I can clean and wax the coach from the ground.

I have the coach washed and waxed once per year while at Myrtle Beach and just use the Wash Wax All whenever I need to clean the rig and can't do a conventional water wash. The coach shines great and water beads on it like it was waxed yesterday.

We've never waxed our coach! We use "Pro C-48 shampoo and wax" when washing the coach - recommended at one of the CC rally seminars years ago (Tucson?). Coach exterior still looks like new.
I believe Pro C-48 is a commercial carwash product and contains a bit of carnuba wax.
