Which is the best cover?

Yahoo Message Number: 98215
Greetings Everyone,

I am shopping for a cover for my 40' Inspire and would appreciate recommendations. I live in Phoenix so I am mostly looking for protection from sun, dust & bird droppings.

Thanks

George,

I purchased the ADCO cover for my 40' Coach. My coach was parked in a hot, dusty and windy area. Wanting to protect it from all. It lasted one season. The top tore because of the air horns and Sirius antenna. It weighs approx 40 pounds, so it is very hard to get to the roof of the coach to put on. Once you take it off, I could not get it folded up enough to get it back in a bag they give you to store it. don't get me wrong, it is a good cover but I just could not handle it to my satisfaction. I have no opinion on the lightweight nylon covers, maybe someone here has used one on theirs or something else.

Thanks Dave. Did you put any padding around the horns and antenna?

I have a custom ADCO cover which I ordered directly from ADCO (not Camping World) for a Teton 5th Wheel parked at Outdoor Resorts Palm Springs year around. I have used the cover for two summers now, between April and end of October. Other owners have gotten 5 years of life from ADCO upper quality covers. The custom cover fits like a glove with the ties in place.

The local coach waxing guy installs the cover, and in the fall washed the cover while still installed (to get the dirt off the cover) and the next day removed and stores it for me in a bin I provided and he takes to his storage. Then washes the coach.

I provided a dozen moving blankets and more than a dozen sand bags (which I purchased from Home Depot, or Lowes -- I forget). They are small empty bags which I filled with sand (I forget -- 10-15# each)and plastic wire-tied them shut. I store the sand bags, and will rewrap them inside a new empty sandbag every couple of years.

I believe he uses the sand bags to hold the blankets in place while he puts the cover on, but he might be using them (also?) on top of the cover.

You want a good custom fit so that the cover does not rub/vibrate against the paint. On my Golf Cart, I use a loose cover, which has rubbed some of the paint off at the corners in the desert winds.

Photo upon request.

George,

No I did not... I found an inside storage building for the MH.
Herb gave good information for securing the cover.
Also, about putting padding down on the horns and any antenna.

Also, although my MH was suppose to be a 40'. when I measured the outside It was closer to 42' then 40'. I do not have a ladder that would make even longer. I purchased the next size up that cover up to 42'. It was probably my mistake. I had a lot of excess of cover and was really unable to get it tight and the winds probably caused the cover to rub. Although CW would not want you to bring back a cover that is too large or too small, I would really check with them about a exchange if you want to exchange it up or down after your decision which one to purchase.
