Is it ok to use low pressure air to blow the water out of the system and then pump RV Antifreeze through the system?

Thanks in advance
BILL

Bill:

The Hydro Hot will take about 4 gallons of antifreeze before it starts coming out of the hot side of the faucets.

Kevin, can you assume that if you're just blowing air and moist air comes out of all the hot water facets that essentially all the water is gone?

Since Kevin has not responded, I will say that according to Roger Burke, blowing water out of the system will not ensure the Hydro Hot/Aqua Hot is winterized. You must pump the pink antifreeze thru the system until it runs from a hot water tap to ensure winterization.

Being a service shop owner, we always pump rv antifreeze thru as described to insure proper protection. NOW that being said I've personally blown out many systems never with an issue. If all the water is removed from the copper coiled tubing, then it'll be fine. No water, no ice. The most common is to just leave the electric element on and/or the boiler. Personally I leave the element on and (knock on wood...! J) never had an issue...
OF course we've repaired many that have frozen, it isn't cheap but it's a lot cheaper than replacement!

Gary & Lee:

I was out of town & just returned this afternoon, thus the no reply. When I winterize motorhomes with the Hydro/Aqua Hot units I always run the antifreeze through the whole hot & cold systems leaving it in the lines due to the cost of repairing or replacing the Hydro/Aqua Hot if anything happens.
