water heater

We used our water heater propane for the first time in at least a year. Today I noticed black soot going up the side of the coach from the water heater access panel. Normally I use the electric side. What is the proper way to adjust the propane burner? Tom

Had that happen on my previous CC. Look for a spider and web in the tubing. They are attracted to the propane. The way to prevent this is to buy a flea color at a pet store, put 1/2 of it in out side area, behind the cover, of the water heater and the other half in the back area of the refrigerator (if you have a Nocold). An old RV tech told me about this and he was right, and it works. Never had the problem again.

Usually a sign of bad air/ fuel mixture. Check the venture. Adjust til you get a nice blue flame.
