Surge Protectors

Next week I will be headed to the FMCA Western Area Rally in My 2001 CC Allure.  It is a short 1 1/2 hour drive from my home and my first FMCA rally.

I noticed that the paperwork I was sent included a recommendation to use a surge protector because of power surges. The available electric is 30 amp. I am an owner of less than one year with my CC and it is my first motorhome.  Doesn't the coach already have a surge protector? If it does is it sufficient and if not, what would be advisable to purchase and from where?

Not sure if yours has an ems but they are pricey. Think of the surge protector as a circuit breaker protecting all the expensive electronics.  It will trip and reset most times. Really big hit and it dies sacrificing itself to protect coach.
CW has 50 amp portable on sale for $95 or so.

I would be surprised if you do not have a built-in surge protector.  Why not just give a call to CC in Junction City, OR, or Oregon Motor Coach in Eugene and as?  I have a 2004 Allure which has one in the wardrobe closet in the rear of the coach.

Locate your breaker panel. In the closet behind it, you should see a clear panel and behind that you will find your surge protector.

I do have the surge protector in the bedroom closet. I assume that will be sufficient with what the fmca is referring to with spikes in the electric?  Thanks for all the replies. I'm excited, this being my first FMCA rally.

John, you are all set. We were in Indio one year and we had 15 amps only. I think they have upgraded to 30 amps. HGo have fun.
