Atwood Water Heater

Forgive if I don't explain my question very well, but here goes.

Our problem is that at all our inside water phaucets we only get a bit better the warm water from our hot water tank (do not have hydro hot). We have replaced the heating element and the thermostat and still get the same results. It seems to me like after the water comes out of the hot water tank it is mixing with the cold water some how???? Does anyone know if there is a mixing valve in the system after the hot water tank. According to Kevin Waite he thinks not. But thought I would pose the question to the group. Or has anyone experienced this problem before?

Any help would be appreciated as I am at this point completely clueless.

Check for bypass valve is in the correct the position. I would  move it to bypass and back to use, it may not be seated fully and mixing cold  with the hot.

Hi Ken

I had the same problem a few years ago, on the back side of my water  heater in my 2004 Inspire there is a little rocker switch mine was fried, so I  just bypassed the switch, don't know if the 2005 Inspire has the switch or  not, worth looking.

There is probably bypass valve near the tank so that the water heater can be isolated from the system for the purpose of winterizing.  I.e., drain the tank, pink stuff in the lines.  Check the lines and valves near the tank.

Ken,

If you have the hot & cold water turned on the faucet in your plumbing bay you it will be mixing your hot with cold water prior to entering your coach. You can have both the hot & cold valves on and not be using water as your plumbing bay shower hose has a valve at the hose end similar to a kitchen spray hose.
Make sure your plumbing bay hot & cold water faucet is turned off.

Had this happen to me back in December. Went to the Camping World Store in Myrtle Beach to buy a thermostat . The young man at the service desk, asked me why I thought I needed a thermostat I guess some what impatiently, I replied Duhh!Because I don't have hot water. We conversed a little more and he asked me if I had an out side shower.I told him that I did. He proceeded to tell me that if the valves had been left on, it would cause this problem, even tho the shower was not being used. He didn't have the thermostat for my coach .so I told him I would go  back to the camp ground and check the valves on the shower and that I would call him back and let him order the thermostat Now, I am no novice when it comes to RVng And I had never heard of such. Went back to the camp ground and you  guessed it. The hot and cold valves were both open.I closed the valves and within fifteen minutes, my hot water heater was working as it should.I called Camping World back and sheepishly told them that the valves were my problem.

If you have an outside faucet, be sure both valves are turned off. This is  a common point of cross mixing.
