What are these vents for?

Yahoo Message Number: 99971
I have 6 ceiling vents in my living area and 4 more in the bedroom and I can't figure out why. My thermostat controls the two AC units which are large vents and filter in a 17" square panel whereas the 10 smaller vents (about 5 x 9) are unknown to me. No heat or cold air comes out of those small vents. Is there some sort of diverter that changes to ducted air? This coach is a 2001 allure that is a 32'

Close the small vents on the units. If those two are closed, the air is diverted to the smaller vents. You may need to adjust each of the other vents to get the air distribution you want.

On the air condition itself there is a sliding plate that you can move that will direct the flow to the vent you are referring to

The cover on the bottom of the air conditioner has a plate that you can slide to direct the air to the vents that you mentioned.

Close the two vents on the two air conditioners.  Then you can direct and control the flow to given areas using the small vents.  My experience has been that the rear doesn't need as much air flow as the front of the coach, so I shut down two of the bed room vents and 1/2 the bath room vents.  That way I am sending more air up front from the rear air to help the front air to counter act all the glass that allows the heat to penetrate the coach.  Also in cooler climbs when using the heat pumps I have more heat for up front.  At night time in warm weather I shut off the bed room unit and run just off the front to reduce noise.  Using the small vents allows air flow with out the noise for more restful sleep.  Coaches with 3 airs have more flexibility with the small vents, too.  Carol doesn't like the air blowing directly on her so the vents on the passenger side of the coach are throttled down a bit for her desires while mine remain wide open.  TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

Are all the ducts connected together then, if the rear air can actually help out the front?  The plate that can slide over to divert more air-where is it? I've removed the panel that has the filter in it-can it be done from that point? I don't see a sliding plate.

There are two small tabs connected to a diverter plate on each  vent in the center of the plate that extend down wards.  They are easy to see from one direction but invisible from the other on the longitudinal axis.  The ducts extend the full length  of the coach and connect the two zones together.  TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731.

I have closed the vents on the main unit but quite a bit of air seeps out. There is no other "diverting plate"?
