We keep our sink covers in our sticks & bricks garage. The stove top counter top used to slide into a large angled cabinet to the right side of the overall countertop. But we put a shelf in this space to add more under cabinet storage space. We now rest the counter top behind a chair, resting against the extended slide wall. We have a small rag folded, that we place under the stovetop countertop, to keep it from rattling while driving. This cloth is used to rest the edge of the countertop from scaring the wood edge.
We've looked into adding a slot under the stovetop counter, but prefer to retain the headroom for that shelf.
Best to all,
