Bamboo or Cork Flooring

Has anyone replaced their original flooring with either Cork or Bamboo?

We travel with a dog and found out that the laminated wood flooring
 scratched and we had to use those long plastic ski's when bringing in the slides as not to scratch the floor.
Also we thought of tile throughout the coach but was told the tile and grout would crack.

Lori, I've thought of cork for several years, and I believe Ernie (think his last name is maybe Eckberg) who is on this blog now and then who lives out west , maybe TX, does this kind of thing and told me that cork would be just fine.  It seems to me logically  that cork would be terrific as it has some little bit of give in it and is also very lovely to look at.  Looking forward to seeing if others have an opinion or experience with cork.

we haven't had work done by Ernie yet but my brother in law owns a Foretravel and several Foretravel owners have used Ernie and they said he's the best!

We have stayed at Oak Creek RV Park many times since we have family and friends in Fort Worth.  The people that own Oak Creek also own Cloud Nine RV Park in Hot Springs Arkansas.  Wonder if Oak Creek is flooded though with all the rain in that area.

Bamboo is a bad idea for any floor. We had it in out two bathrooms (stick house) and when it got scratched we found that is not really wood but a grass. Dogs did and will scratch it as well as high heels. No floor finisher would touch it and we tore it out and replaced with tile.

We had the carpet removed in our living room and bedroom by Ernie Ekberg and he replaced it with bamboo that we purchased in advance from Lumber Liquidators. He did a fantastic job and is very meticulous. You will be very pleased with his work if you can get to him or have him come to you as we did.
 That being said ... I will highly recommend Ernie but would not necessarily recommend bamboo or almost any wood for that matter. Our bamboo flooring is somewhat dark and even though there is somewhat of a pattern or a grain visible, it shows every speck of dirt and gray hair (wonder where that comes from!). Whereas on the adjacent tile floor in the entry and in the kitchen, you can drop anything on the floor and I challenge you to find it in the pattern of the tile.
 So although my preference would be tile, there is the weight consideration of tile and the clearance issues with the slides. If we had to do it over again we would opt for one of the tile look-alikes that come in squares just like the real tile and it would be a challenge to tell it apart from real tile once installed. If you have pets, you will see pet hair on a wood floor. And if you have gray hair, you will see gray hairs on the wood floor.
 But do call Ernie Ekberg (817-475-3991) and you can have him do the whole job or you can do a lot of the pre and post work yourself if you need to save some money. Ernie just charges by the day and is an expert in what he does.

Folks, any hard surface will scratch. I am currently installing some Handscraped Hickory in an Intrigue. If your slide drags on the floor, some pieces of vinyl plank can be used to help the slide come in.
Bamboo, is indeed classified as a grass. I haven't seen any damage or heard anything bad about the product. The resin used to make the flooring is super hard.

We did engineered Cherrywood 3.5" Mohawk and laid ProSeal underlayment which resulted in quieter ride than when we had carpeting...very well done install by cabinet maker...reasonable too.
