Concord Series 90 Antenna

Concord Series 90 TV Antenna

I think my antenna has finally been destroyed by overhanging branches for the last time.  I have patched it together at least 4 times, and this time it looks like it's history.

Does anyone know where I might be able to acquire a mast (head) assembly?  Part number 12897.  There are several colors, but that is unimportant.  Barker Mfg. Division of Braun is no longer making them.

Also, anyone that has replaced the current assembly that might suggest the easiest solution?

In the meantime, I will see if I can patch the old head back to serviceable condition, but it looks like it may not be possible. JB Weld, here I come!!!!

Holding Tank Odor

Lastly, Thank you all for your responses to my 'Holding Tank Odor' query.  For what it's worth, I did pursue the sealing around the base of the toilet to the floor (I used masking tape) just to see if in fact that was the source, and I was right!  Now I plan to replace the seal (I believe it is currently rubber) with conventional wax ring(s) as I know they work well.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

I recommend a "Omni Directional" air antenna. Check Camping World or PPL in Houston.

I have replaced several of these antennas with Winegard Road Star RS3000  antennas. They are amplified and omni directional. They seem to work as well as  the Concord.

Omni antennae by their very nature don't have much gain and are susceptible to reflections known as multi-path distortion, that can cause drop outs and unacceptable conditions.  A directional antennae has more gain and can pull in a weaker signal and reject reflected signals from buildings or mountain ranges.  Because of digital signal  has less effective range  a directional antennae is most important.    I have  both  on the coach and the Concord is much superior.  I will admit to using a Satellite most of the time, but when local reception is required, the antennae is the last resort.  TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731,

I just ordered the new Winegard Razar Automatic. I currently have a Winegard 15 in. omnidirectional that came on the coach. The clever thing about the Razar is that it is still only 15 in. in diameter, but has a mechanically rotating directional antenna inside, enclosed and protected. LED lights on the controller show where the stations are on a circular panel after it does an automatic search, but it also can be rotated manually by taking control of the motor that rotates it. I'm hoping to get better performance out of this antenna. I do prefer a fixed antenna that does not have to be raised. Down side: about $350.

Norm, the Rayzar Automatic came today. I thought I was going to be able to mount it on top of the coax coming out of the roof, but it has a coax connecter oriented horizontal to the roof, and it does not sit high enough to get a cable under it. It comes with a cable plate that the coach coax goes under and comes out horizontally. The problem is they want the coax connecter on the antenna facing the rear. Ideally you mount the antenna forward of the cable entry plate so that you have a very short cable to the antenna. But if I do that I will be too close to an A/C unit, thus blocking signals. If I keep the coax connector facing rearward and put the antenna behind the cable entry plate, I would have to route cable on the roof to the back of the antenna. Too cluttered and messy.

I called Winegard tech support and they said it can be mounted to the front. Say they were just trying to protect it from the wind. However, if you do that the station orientation on the control panel inside will not be correct. Top of the panel is supposed to be the front of the coach and the bottom the rear. If I put the connector facing forward, the top of the panel will represent the rear of my coach and so forth. But, why do I care? As long as I know that I will know where the channels are, and really I just want it to find the stations.

We just changed out our OTA approach earlier this year. Removed out Star Ship Enterprise looking unit. Added in it's place the Winegard Rayzar Automatic. We also added a Wnegard Sensar IV, hooked up in an A/B switch with the Automatic. (So far, the Automatic has supported us very well. Have never felt a need to "B" over to the crank up Sensar IV.

If only wanting OTA, I would have not added the crank up Sensar IV. I wanted the ability to get my Bullet with 13" antenna mast, up in the air a bit higher. (These are from WiFi Ranger. I have not yet moved the Bullet with it's smaller 3 dBi antenna still attached from where it is currently roof mounted. (And does a pretty good job as is!). Once I add the 13" mast antenna, I can't leave it fixed mounted to the roof as I have it today. By adding it to the arm of the Sensar IV, it will be horizontal with the roof when traveling.

I should comment that the Automatic usage has been relatively close to towns. My understanding form reading a few reviews, is that in extreme fringe areas to the broadcast towers, the Sensar IV will be able to pull in a better signal at those times. Just have not needed it yet. But figured since we were spending the money to get the crank up for the WiFi antenna, might as well use it!

I tried out the Winegard Rayzar Automatic today. Everything is hooked up but not permanently mounted. I had the antenna sitting on rubber pads to keep it stable while driving in my neighborhood. I drove to the top of a hill . I am 65 miles NW of Atlanta.

I got a total of 9 channels including sub channels. You can hear the Rayzar rotating on the roof as the control panel shows rotating green LEDs during the channel search scan. In some ways the results are amazing, and in other ways confusing and illogical. I got a station in Alabama that is 64 miles away, and another in Atlanta that is 63 miles. I also got a station in Dalton, GA that is about 50 miles away. However I didn't get the station associated with Rome whose broadcast antenna is only 29 miles away. On one occasion I got a channel that was pixelated, so I rotated the antenna using the manual buttons and it came in clearly. Only time will tell, but it looks like this is a fairly powerful antenna that is going to do a better job than the omnidirectional antenna I replaced.
