Does anyone know how to test the 1090385 controller. Right now it is defaulting to high speed. This unit receives data from theECM (no sensors).

Here is Fan Controller Test Form.

Hydraulic Fan Test Procedure

Coach #:                                            Floorplan:            Engine temp.:

Technician:        Date:    Date Code (if applicable):

Fan Controller (Electronic test)-

Engine controlled fans require proper diagnostic equipment to properly test. They can be identified by having only one plug to the hydraulic fan controller valve. Low fan can be produced with triangular plug plugged in and the engine cold. High fan can be tested with triangular plug disconnected.
External controlled fans require: I-input voltage, with ignition on and II- sensor resistances recorded below. Measurements are to be made on vehicle side of plug, not controller side.
Two pin connector:

Pin A to gnd.=      _____ohms

Pin B to gnd.=      _____ D.C. voltage

Six pin connector:

Pin A to pin B=    _____ ohms        F.R.A. relay

Pin C to pin D=    _____ ohms        Coolant sensor

Pin E to pin F=    _____ ohms        Inlet air sensor

Fan Functions ( Mechanical test)-

Low Fan Speed:

With engine cold, below 160 degrees F., and A/C selector in the off position.
Note: Both engine controlled and external controlled fans!

Engine at idle:                    ______

Engine at 2100 R.P.M.:    ______

Medium fan speed:

With engine cold and FRA wire disconnected at relay.
Note: External controlled fans only!

Engine at idle:                    ______

Engine at 2100 R.P.M.:    ______

High fan speed:

With engine cold and the fan controller unplugged.
Note: Either the triangular plug for engine controlled fans or the six pin for external controlled fans.

Engine at idle:                    ______

Engine at 2100 R.P.M.:    ______

Wayne, Crawl under coach and get the Fan Controller Pt. # from the Metal Plate. This part number is for the entire assembly. Call Berendsen Fluid Power - Tech Support guy, JOE NEWBIE in Tulsa, OK. 918-581-5092.

Give him the Pt. # you find on the Fan Controller and ask him to give you the Pt. # for the Electronic Portion Only, he'll look it up for you. Then Kevin should be able to order for you.

12 volt light problem

We're wondering if anyone has a solution for our problem.  A little bit ago, after Mike turned on one of the spotlights over the couch, the power stopped, lights went out, and the GFI kicked off.  He reset the GFI breaker near the floor across from the refrigerator,  and the power came back on for all except for the spotlights above the couch as well as the fluorescent light over the kitchen sink.  It seems that's all that won't come on.  The inverter is functioning fine, and Mike pushed the fuse even though it hadn't  kicked off. We have replaced our GFI with the more modern version one year ago.

Any suggestions?  Of course it's the Fourth of July.  We are heading out this afternoon or tomorrow morning.  Thank you all.

Here I am again, and all is well.  Mike replaced one fuse in the 12 volt panel/fuse box across from refrigerator.  He also pulled another fuse out and put it back in.  Thanks.

Just for future info the GFIC is for the 110 volt system and has nothing to with the 12 volt light system.

gave up troubleshooting and just wired a toggle switch on the transmission panel to manually operate the two fan speeds. Works great.

Default to high occurs if you disconnect the controller. It could mean that you do not have a good contact. The last time I had a problem with my controller I cleaned the connections with electrical contact cleaner and added some dialectic grease and that solved the problem.

I now make that part of my maintenance schedule.
