rear view camber

Hi, we have a 2000 magna and the camber is no longer working. Has any one change out to a newer unit that the cables are the same, if so what type. Any info would help. Thanks Charles 5886

I had mine replaced by Fountain RV in Lakeland, FL.  I had previously replaced the radio with a Pioneer AVH-X6500DVD to obtain a better display.
 Replacing the camera is not an easy task.  It entails removing the mirror above the bed, cutting a hole in the paneling and foam insulation to access the existing camera.  The camera is held in place by a bracket and lots of caulk/sealant.
 The new camera doesn't fit the hole and it will be necessary to enlarge the hole if you want to mount the camera similar to the existing camera.  A bracket and lots of caulk/sealant is used to mount the new camera.
 The existing wires can be used but wires from the new camera have to be spliced into the old wires.  Up front under the dash is a small box near the forward wall, centered and near the floor.  That box is not needed but this is where the wires from the rear enter the dash area.  I think another splice is needed here to add a connector suitable for use  to the radio/display.
 There are several components you won't need unless you still use the navigation component of the old radio.  I would recommend a new radio to get a better display.
 The new camera is a Perimeter View 20-CM32-AH.  It does not have quite the field of view of the original camera.
