Hydro Hot Showers

In response back to Walt Rothermel: Thanks for your reply. I should have been a little clearer about my problem of hot showers with Hydro Hot. I am unable to have a good hot shower even with the diesel. I feel maybe my problem is with the unit not coming on soon enough. It seems to run totally cold before kicking in again.

I believe I have one of the first Hydro Hots installed in an Intrigue. This was a change made while my coach was still, on the production line. Since CC installed the Hydro Hot during production, they left the propane fired Atwood hot water heater installed, so I have two ways to heat water.
I have used the Hydro Hot for hot water and heat almost exclusively and have had few problems with it. Originally, I did have to add coolant. I, like some of you, did not have any signs of a coolant leak, but did have an unexplained water leak now and then. It seems like "air in the system" was the common cause of any leak when I asked any of the techs. They, at least in my case, may have been correct because the water leaks are gone and the coolant usage is minimal.
My wife and I live aboard full time and take a shower daily we also have a Washer/Dryer and a dishwasher installed, so we use a lot of hot water. I do run the diesel furnace in addition to the electric option during heavy demands, but have found the diesel alone can handle it. As for the electric alone, it isn't much good for anything more than keeping the system warm so the diesel doesn't run as much and for the ocasional warm water hand washing.
I have not used the Atwood propane hot water heater because if Murphy's Law is still alive and well, I'm afraid something will go wrong with the switching mechanisms and I'll wind up with something else to fix. As the saying goes, "If it aint't broke, don't fix it."

I have a 2002 Intrigue 11451. The only way it makes hot water is from the atwood hot water heater it's 10 gallon tank and it has propane, electric, and while driving the cummings engine will make hot water.
While I drive I turn the the hot water heater off, and let the engine make hot water.
I very seldom use the electric 110 side of so I have that CB shut off in the bedroom.
I always use propane and it works great lot of hot water, this is the best system to make hot water for the coach, I believe CC tried to get to HIGH TECH in using Hydro Hot to heat domestic hot water.
Don't be afraid of the atwood hot water heater its the best way to make hot water and automatic just turn it on, the only maintance is once a year you may have to clean and adjust the flame, and flame tube. These Atwood heaters have been in coaches for years, the first one I had you had to go outside to light it with a match and you could ever adjust the water temp on it.
CC should disconnect the Hydro HOt system and but Atwood hot heaters back in the coaches, I'm all for HIGH TECH, but some things should be left alone.

You have more problems than it not igniting soon enough. Within a few seconds of ignition you should have hot water, all you could use. It must not be burning correctly or something is plugged.
