2000 Magna dash lights retrofit to led lamps

Hello, we have a 2000 magna and need to change the dash panel lamps to led so they can be seen in day time. Has anyone made this change and what type led did you use, and where did it come from. Any help would be nice, thanks Charles 5886 magna 2000

Your dash lights may be different than mine but I replace all 19 bulbs but left the ABS light alone because I was told it would start flashing. This is the bulbs I used Floyd 2006 Inspire 51744

I have done this and it makes a difference.

There where 2 other lights that I did not replace, just arrived here will send u more info over the weekend.
Work was done by Bob Vinson.

I did pull some info from the IRV2 website

The source that the other gentleman referenced I believe is spot on.

Charles - I changed out mine in my 2000 Magna with the same LED bulb/source that Floyd used.  Worked very well and easy to do yourself.  I will add a couple of things - change out the bulbs with the same color LED bulb.  Just make note when you get ready to order the bulbs how many of each color you need.  I initially ordered all white bulbs and while that gave better visibility than the originals, I then ordered the correct colors and the difference was very noticeable.  I also changed out some of the bulbs in the overhead panel and the most noticeable difference was in the panel for the tank and fluid levels.  It was almost impossible to see in the daytime and after changing to LED it is easily read anytime.  The only problem I have with the fluid level indicators is they appear to be so bright that there is some bleed thru in the panel.  So when the "Empty" is showing the "1/4" also is dimly lit.  I never realized that those lights were colored until I replaced them with LED's.
I have two lights on the caution panel that are dimly lit at night with everything else off.  I've read that there is a way to fix that but I haven't attempted that yet.  My brother's the electrical whiz and I will probably save that for when I see him.

Easy project and well worth the effort.

This is what I ordered, 15 Red, 6 Amber, 6 Green and 1 Blue

I have also changed many of the lights to LED and we are very satisfied.

Charles - Each of the three dash sections has screws around the perimeter of the black or wood grain plexiglass face (appears to have been changed during the model year - mine are black) that the gages/switches/lights are attached to.  Once you have the screws out you will be able to pull the face out towards you.  It isn't necessary to pull it very far out from the panel - just pivot the panels on the bottom - pulling the top out far enough to give you access to the back of the panel.  All of the bulbs you are replacing are in the upper half of the panel as I recall. Simply pull the lights out and replace the bulbs.  Remember that the LED bulbs are positive/negative pole specific so if the light bulb doesn't work simply remove it and rotate it 180 degrees and reinsert.
As I recall you are able to determine the bulb color needed from the back by shining a flashlight from the front of the panel but it may be easier to just note the color by activating the light and noting it prior to removing the bulb.  The lights you remove will all be the same, the color is in the face panel.  By using the colored LED bulbs you will be enhancing that color.
Good luck with the project.  It is well worth the effort.  Let me know if you have additional questions.
