Currently we are camping at Wal-Mart Quebec . I purchased 911 diesel & fuel additive that is suppose to help clean faulty injector, plus it was suggested I purchase an additive that will not allow my fuel to gel. Last night temperature was 38 degrees F. I will have the Chemical oil test done--Good Idea

Should I be adding anything to the generator ?

Stan,

From my experience with cold weather and diesel fuel it will have to be in the low teens to begin diesel gelling. I use to work for UPS years ago and in a very cold climate. No one stated to worry until the temps really started to drop. I would suggest you contact the fuel place you got your last fuel as they may already started adding anti gel ingredients to their fuel. With temps above freezing you should not worry.

I have started and operated my Cummins ISL in temps as low as 17 degrees and my former ISC down to 0 degrees without issues, and my Dodge 2500 with a 5.9 down to -10 degrees and haven't had any fuel issues.  I'm sure your Cat should be able to handle cold weather as well as my Dogs.  You have to realize the diesel fuel we have today is nothing like the fuel we had in the 80's  when my diesel Racor filter plugged up on my Oldsmobile running fuel from Juarez,  Mexico.  Even then when the temps in Yellowstone got down to 15 degrees I had no Issues with American fuel in 84.  .  .  .    TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

Mine was  88 Oldsmobile sedan,  It got 28 mpg around town, where my 2012 CR-V gets 26 and got 34 on the highway when I stayed under 75.  The car weighed over 4000 lbs as I remember.  I put 80,000+ miles on it before I sold it.  The only thing you had to do was change the oil every 3000 miles.  I could buy 100 liters of fuel in Juarez for $3.00. The only issue I had was replacing the O ring on the injection pump and rebuilding the raor filter when I used an additive with Alcohol  once.  Other wise it was a great car.    The only reason I sold it was for traveling we bought a van with propane that we could by for 11 cents a gallon in Mexico  and for 75cents a gallon on this side of the boarder.  We had planned on pulling a 25 ft Airstream, but when I bought the 34' plans changed in 87.    TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731 2012

Our ISM runs at 32-34 psi at highway speeds. I have expressed concerns about this to Cummins and they insist this is correct oil pressure; being a high volume/low pressure ststem. The ISL in our previous coach carried a higher pressure when at operating temperature and highway speeds. Best to contact Cummins for proper operating pressures.
