Caulking

I need to replace a Fan-tastic vent cover.  What type of caulking should I use where hinge is on roof and over screw holes?

TWIMC,

Dicor Self-Leveling Lap Sealant. It's $$ cheaper on line, but you can normally get a tube at camping world or the like.

Dave,

You may also want to consider using Eternabond tape.  It is available online, Walmart and Camping World.  It is a roofing tape that many RVer's have had success with rather than using caulk.  I have also used it to seal a hole in my fresh water tank.

Also you could do both:)!

Dicor self leveling caulk. And if the screws themselves are not yet in, adding some to the holes screws as they go in too.

Then also cover with say 4" wide Eternabond. Follow the directions well, especially cleaning the area it is to be applied to. And then be sure to roller over the leading edges to be sure they are down tight. Bubble areas can be slightly cut with a straight edge, then pushed down securely removing pockets of air, Say over the hinge base, if it is needed.

Finally, nothing wrong with putting a thin coat of Dicor self leveling along the edges of the tape where attaches to the roof.

Go slow, take your time, and this could be a one time job:)!

Best,

Smitty
