Houston RV Resorts/Parks

We need some help from our Country Coach Houston friends.

It looks like we will be spending some weeks/months at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and need to find an RV park that is a reasonable driving distance from this medical center which is in the south part of Houston.

RV Park Reviews list Advanced RV Resort at the top one but it does not have availability until late January or February when they open their new section.  The second most highly rated is Lakeview RV Resort and it has one spot beginning next week. Southlake RV Park is next but it has some pretty critical reviews.

Has anyone stayed at these parks?  Can anyone suggest other options?

Please respond here or private message me:  sobrien@....

Thank you so much for any advice given.

We live in Houston and a friend of ours trained for their management position in San Antonio at Lakeview. We visited them there. I really liked it. Their website photos are fairly accurate. Though I don't think they have the hot tub inside. Dog runs and bath stations. Several fire pits around. Clean club house. My friends love their job with the company and are now at their location. They also have a shuttle to the med center. Sure hope everything turns out ok.

We have stayed at Lakeview RV resort a number of times and enjoyed the closeness to town. I believe they have free shuttle service to the hospital area. This park is just south of the 610 on 11991 South Main . There is a hot tub inside the club house.

We spent 2 nights at Lakeview in late October.  It is a nice park but they have some sites up front that are essentially in the driveway.  Hopefully they are not planning to put you into one of those sites for a long period of time.

This link will show you the sites we would try to avoid, if possible.

A big thank you to everyone who responded to my plea for information about RV parks in Houston.  I received many personal messages about their experience similar to what we are facing.

Yesterday morning, all of the parks near MD Anderson Cancer Center were full.  I was pretty discouraged.  Then, late afternoon I got a call from the manager at Lakeview saying they had adjusted some reservations and they had a site for us on the South side of the park for a month or more.  The park reviews mentioned that Lakeview tries to accommodate people who are going to MD Anderson.  True!

My deepest appreciation to this forum for all the encouragement and detailed help given.  What would we do without this Forum?  Thank you, Herb!

We'll be praying for your time there and for the great care and health for you.  Obviously the Lakeview people are terrifically caring people.

There is a KOA just outside of Hanover, NH, who did the same thing for us this summer right before July Fourth.  My brother was having lung cancer surgery at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center on June 30.  They found a place for us for 4 or  5 days, and then when it was filled up being July Fourth, they allowed us to park next to the spot the owners park their own coach for the remaining days of our stay.  It was amazing to me how wonderful they all were too in asking about my brother and us and  even a gift of some food just because.  So please consider the independently owned KOA near Hanover, NH and also near Queechee, VT.
