I installed the Onan EC-30W myself. Was not difficult except I had to extend the generator and crawl under and sit up in the space created by sliding out the generator in order to attach the control box to the ceiling of that compartment.
I had some problem with the remote control losing communication with the control box. I believe it was because the whole interior surface of the space where the control box was mounted is metal. I talked to Onan in South Bend, IN, and was told the control box can be mounted inside and connected to an existing generator start/stop switch. While at the Madison FMCA rally last summer I had the Onan relocate it to the space above the dash with the generator control. So far that has been a success and I haven't lost communication to the control box.
If you mount the control box inside you won't need the additional Y-connector cable. I now have an extra Y-cable. Oh, on the Onan website they don't tell you the control box can be mounted in this manner.
