Towing 2013 Jeep Grande Cherokee Quadra -Trac II

Yahoo Message Number: 104127
We have a 2013 Jeep Grande Cherokee Quadra-Trac II that we are setting up to tow. The instructions state that in the last step to disconnect the negative battery cable. Our tow package installer has run a power line from the coach to the Jeep's battery so that it will not get discharged. It is still necessary to disconnect the battery cable?

Thanks.

G & L,

Boy what a difference 1 year makes... we have a 2012 G.C. Overland and we do not have to disconnect any battery cables. Not sure about yours, but my battery is under the right front passenger seat. it would be a hassle to do that every time.

We had this problem with our 2005 GCLTD .The dealer was no help .and all Chrysler would do was to refer us back to our dealer. The owners manual said to put the switch in the first "off" position.which I assumed to be the ACC position. After suffering through dead batteries every time we towed it over a hundred miles and started carrying a jump box with us. Finally ran into a gentleman on the OBX that had an identical Jeep to mine. Asked him if he ever had battery problems when towing his. He had not !! So I asked him how he towed his. He told me that when he was getting ready to tow, that he turned the key to the "lock" position without removing the key from the switch and sure enough, it worked !! '

Hi Folks,

Just a thought, this may have to do with 4WD vs. AWD or Quada-Trac. For what it is worth on my 2006 4WD never a problem no battery issues. Based on a lot of the posts here on the Group there is a Cadillac SUV Model that people seem to love, for a lot of reasons, including tow ability.

If Manufacture's continue to make it more difficult for us RVers I will stick with what I have. It is all about towing convenience , safety and simplicity with me.
