Help! Coach Won't Start

I have a 2005 CC Inspire with a Cat C-9 Engine.
When I turn on my ignition switch nothing happens! None of the dash lights come on, everything stays dead.
If I hold down the battery boost switch all my dash lights come on, however there is not enough power to start the coach.
My chassis battery reads 12.7 volts and my charger says it's fully charged. I even connected my Fat Max jumper battery on to the chassis battery just in case I was showing battery voltage but not getting any amperage out of it. Still nothing, not even dash lights when I turn on the ignition! It appears as though nothing that is powered by my chassis battery is getting any power as my front door power lock does not even work! My thinking is that I have a bad starter relay. Can anyone tell me where it's located and how I can verify that this is my problem.
Fortunately the coach is sitting in front of our house so we are not stranded anywhere.

This is a silly question to ask, but is your 12v and 24v {if so equipped) switches on??

Were you in the engine bay? Could have hit the kill switch.
Wiggle the ignition key, try again.

Sounds like a bad battery cable connection, either at the battery or the other end.

Agreed don't think relay is problem as that generally only effects the starter not everything attached to the battery.

Sounds like a bad battery cable connection, either at the battery or the other end.

I had the same experience with my 2005 Magna. It turned out I had shut the inverter off at the Silver Leaf and that turned off the charger for the engine's batteries. I turned the inverter on to standby and the charger went in and engine started.

You probably have a bad connection to your battery check all your grounds to chassis from your battery and check all your battery connections and make sure they're clean. The grounds to the chassis from the batteries is always suspect on CC

I had the same trouble and was told that I needed to hold the battery booster button for a longer period of time. Up to 5 minutes. Also check the reset button near the chassis batteries. If it is popped, holding the battery booster does nothing. I my case every time I tried to start the coach  prior to having enough battery power the reset button  would pop.

Starter relay would not affect your not affect your door and your dash lights. Either your chassis batteries are bad or there's some problem between them and your coach. The inverter has nothing to do with it.

I had a similar problem with my 2001 Affinity. Everything with the engine was dead when I tried to turn the key.
. The problem was that I had blown a large fuse between the starter motor and Batt. The very large blade fuse assembly was mounted in a VERY WEIRD location.

The Blade Fuse was mounted in the engine compartment on the Pass. side interior compartment wall behind the right rear tire. The only way that I could see the fuse was to lay on my back, slide just under the compartment and look up towards the turn-signal control box which was mounted directly toward the front of the right rear lights..... the fuse was mounted all by itself , below the control box. It was extremely easy to change it out, but finding it was the problem.

Had similar problem with our 2005 Inspire. Two things- 1. had set started battery disconnect switch to off to keep battery from discharging will sitting and had not reset . Switch in compartment behind starter battery. 2. wing nut on positive side of battery was loose. tightened up and every thing works fine now.

I'm a little embarrassed to say it was my chassis battery that was dead.
When I checked the voltage it read 12.7 volts, not fully charged but not dead.
Later in the day I checked the voltage again and it was reading 9 volts.
I shorted out the positive and negative terminals and it would not even heat up the 14 gauge jumper wire.
So I replaced the chassis battery and now all is well, the coach started great.
So I have learned, if all indications point to the battery it's probably the battery.

Good job one problem with batteries is at rest they read fine but put a load on and they drop to nothing.

While we loved our old Beaver, those months in storage required charging of the batteries every 3 weeks or so, and to the best of my knowledge, those idle weeks may have shortened the battery life. Our Inspire has two good sized solar panels going every day and just turning the key always has a full charged start.

There are probably some solar well informed folks on this board who can offer advice on solar if you don't have it. It seems to have helped our battery life.

Even those who add solar and have purchased new batteries, FYI, I start mine once a month and let it run for 30 minutes, pull in the slides, reset the jacks, turn on the heater and the dash AC, turn on the gen set and the house AC. While it's running a look at in the engine compartment to see if the air compressor is turning and look at the belt. Once a month that's all it takes.

I just changed out my original chassis battery. House batteries are a different matter. I'm on my 3rd set. Michael, how much wattage did you add in your solar panels?

So far, knock on wood, I've had no difficulties with the electrical.

Just my opinion but you may be doing good for your batteries but your certainly not doing good for your engine. You are running the engine just long enough to form condensation inside the engine but not long enough to burn it off. This leads to internal rust and corrosion problems. Can't see them but they are there and doing damage 24/7. Any time you run the engine without driving it on the road you will cause this. Diesel engine combustion temps run very cold at idle and without a load.
