New member looking for 2000 to 2002 Affinity

Yahoo Message Number: 106819
I'm a new group member who is looking to buy an older Country Coach, preferably a 2000 - 2002 Affinity. I am looking for input on where to look, things to watch it for and how much coaches in these years should cost.
I'm in Fort Worth and want it for race weekends and longer, a month or more trips out west. I'm looking forward to being part of the group! Jim

Well step right up! I have a 2000 42ft affinity bed and breakfast Millennium edition that my wife says time to go! Shoot me an email and I can give you more information and my phone number.

Even if you do not buy mine I would be happy to talk to you any time about this model.

Hi Jim,

Three good sources are PPL near Houston, Primier Motor coaches in Tucson and just keep searching on RVTrader.

Premier service center in Tucson had a 42' Affinity when I was there in late March. White with blue and another accent striping as I remember. TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

Suggest you look at RVT.COM. Also consider a Magna in those years.

I like both RVTrader.com and RVT.com, you can set up your search parameters and get email alerts when a new listing comes on. Patience is a virtue when buying a used motorhome, search long and hard for a good one that has been well taken care of. If you want an Affinity, I would open up the search up to include the Magna as well.

Haha, I am at Tiger Run in Breckenridge, an there is a beautiful Affinity (maybe 2000) down the road from me. Nice coach, classic look.

Be very careful in your search! I looked at probably 60 used coaches before I found one that was in great condition! Many had paint checking, bad radiators, no wet PTO, out of date tires, leaky windows, fogged windows, etc. Do your research ......

Good luck!

I agree, look for one well taken care of and preferably one with good tires, PTO and radiator. Although perhaps in that year, the PTO and radiator were not an issue. Windows are going to run you about $300 apiece to have repaired. Also count on throwing $5-10 K at the chassis and generator with fluids, filters, lube, air system, suspension/alignment, roof reseal, misc items. You want to prepare the coach to be road ready, nothing worse than breakdowns on the road. Operating these toys is not a cheap hobby. Fun, and worthwhile, but not cheap...

The need to change to wet PTO and the radiator were not issues in the 2001 to 2003 Affinity and Magnas per Country Coach. One thing that can be an inmediate big expense is tires (thousands to replace). Most will say they "date out" need replacing at 7 years.

Pictures do not show the flaws on these coaches!! I traveled thousands of miles chasing the perfect coach, believe me, there's no such animal!! Remember, beauty's in the eyes of the beholder!! Good luck!
