windshield wiper flies to left (D/S)

Yahoo Message Number: 106879
My windshield wipers work fine at 30 mph or less, have a proper arc, but when I get up to 60+ mph, the D/S windshield wiper flies off to the left, off of the glass, and then returns. But on every stroke, it flies off to left. It has scratched my windshield doing this, and when driving in the rain it is very annoying. What would cause that? I have had a shop look at it, got the same old "it's fixed", but the problem still exists. I am wondering if the motor on that side needs replacement on that side. Have any of you experienced this?

Greg....

Your windshield wiper arm has stripped out the teeth that hold it onto the shaft that turns the wiper arm. You must replace the entire wiper arm.

I have used RAINEX (sp?) for years. Wipe it on then clear off the residue. Unless it is very heavy rain, I never turn on the wipers. I apply it before each trip and have been pleased with it.

Yes, after looking at it more closely I think you are right, the teeth look pretty bad. Do I order the arms from Country Coach?

Not necessarily so. When I had my drivers side windshield replaced recently the techs had to remove the wiper arm and when they did the cone with the teeth that had cracked into 3 pieces. He went to Lazy Days, Tucson, they had the part, replaced the windshield, reinstalled the wiper arm, just like new. Maybe I was just lucky. TWI 2004 intrigue 11731.

Rainex does work well in shedding water off the glass. But I don't care how meticulous you are in cleaning the windshield and applying the film, when you drive into the morning or afternoon sun you can see the film and makes seeing through the windshield an uncomfortable experience for me. I am curious if you are wearing polarizing sunglasses. Sometimes they can show up some weird things if the sun is at the right angle. I gave up on them and wear regular sunglasses.

I had a similar problem on my coach. If you remove the arm there is a large nut which locks the shaft thru the front shell of the coach. I tried just tightened that but it would quickly loosen up again. I opened the generator drawer and looked behind the shell and saw there was nut on the inside that was turning when trying to tighten the outside nut. By holding the inside nut tight with a visegrip, I was finally able to REALLY tighten the outside nut and it never came loose again

Is that the big nut outside? I have done that, still no luck. Actually I was surprised to find it loose.
