Sliding windows lubrication

Can anyone recommend a lubricant for the sliding thermal windows? Mine are getting harder and harder to open, and I don't want to apply anything that would make it worse.

Having been around boats for over 60 years, let me suggest what I use to ease the sliding windows issue. Starbrite makes an aerosol product called "Liquid Rollers" that is used on boat trailer bunk boards to make them slippery when loading/launching a boat. The can comes with a fine spray wand for tight spots and precise application to my thermal window tracks, and seems to last for a long time without issues. I think you'll find it does the job. A little bit goes a long way. Safe travels.

You might try spray silicone, it leaves no mess and works pretty well.

If anyone like to drive at night and wants to use I-10 this week going thru El Paso at night, Beware. I-10 west and possibly east will be closed from 9:00 to 5:00 at night this week thru Saturday. And the alternative route is a 4 lane surface road with lots of stop lights and a nice 2 to 3 % grade. Just thought I'd give a fair warning. TWI 2004 Intrigue. 11731 PS. you could always take trans-mountain HWY and Hwy 375. But there is an 8% grade up and down.

Like Brian, I use Pledge. I was in the RV and residential window business for many years and we always recommended Pledge to our customers. It is basically a wax product that allows easy clean-up of over spray. Wax is inert so it will not damage any surrounding surfaces. It will lube the rigid and soft vinyl parts as well as the "Fuzzy-Wuzzy" (technical jargon for pile tracks). I use it on the sliding screen tracks and frames as well.

I use dry Teflon spray, no residue to collect dirt - makes them slide easy...

Don,

I spray a little silicone in the tracks about once a year. Seems to work fine.

What king of pledge do you use (spray, wax, etc) and how do you apply it. My main problem is the screeching noise we get when we close them.

The screeching noise may be from the "rubber" gasket/wiper that sits vertically between the two panes. It probably tends to harden with age. This wiper screeches on ours.

Manufacturer recommended... removes the squeal and softens and keeps rubber pliable with periodic use

OK...got some great recommendations. When I saw the Pledge one, I thought...huh? Well, I went out and bought some and it works great! Naturally, it came in six or eight configurations...lemon, orange, etc. I picked the Multi Surface 3X. Bit of background here. On my way north last month, I stopped at Suncoast Designers in Florida and had six windows de-fogged. They did a good job, but after the re-installation, the windows were still very hard to open. The technicians gave me a hunk of "tube wax lubricant" to try. Miserable stuff to try to apply and I think it may have exasperated the problem. I wrote to the company suggesting that a small effort to make the customer happy would go a long way. Now I'll email them the Pledge suggestion. Thanks

One more note. I saved $300 on the invoice by printing a coupon I found in the online version of the FMCA magazine. $50/window. Sweet.

I use the common Pledge in a spray can available at most grocery and hardware stores. Available in several fragrances. I prefer lemon, but it makes no difference in the usefulness of the product. Shake often while using. It also works fine as a touch-up on cabinets between deep waxing.
