inverter/charger issues

Hi Group: We just bought a country coach and brought it back from the Florida to Colorado. We had no problems along the way and had plugged it in though the journey. We got back to our area and now do not have the luxury of full time a/c power. We went to check on the coach and turned on the generator and had a fault in the inverter and charger. It was not charging and the inverter would not turn on. We disconnected the phone type cable/wire from the inverter and it did reset itself. Charged and inverted as expected.
Then next day, went back to charge up the batteries and the same thing happened. We then tried to turn on the 12 volt, then the inverter, then the generator and it didn't happen so that good but now that the batteries are a bit low, (I think), when I flip the "disconnect switch" to turn on the 12 volt, the generator comes on automatically and then the inverter/charger doesn't engage until we either reset or unplug the cord?? Any suggestions or ideas?

Leave the disconnect switch alone. It is switched off if the coach is going to be left powered down for weeks.

It does exactly what the name says disconnects 12 volts dc. Our coaches run all systems using 12 volts.

First get your house batteries fully charged with either shore power or generator. Then turn off the circuit breaker for your refrigerator (empty it, leave it ajar) and turn off house battery disconnect switch and chassis battery disconnect switch. I also disable both inverters. I have left mine like that for weeks, no problem. Occasionally go out to the coach and run the generator to top off batteries. How old are the house batteries? If they are 4 or so years old, they may not be taking a full charge. I think that is what is throwing your fault, and why the auto gen start is starting the generator, it is seeing low battery voltage.

Where is the chassis battery disconnect switch? Also I assume the house battery disconnect switch is at the door? Batteries are about 3 years old.

You probably found ether "salesman switch' disconnect usually right inside the entry door.

The other disconnect on many CC's is in the back passenger basement. Again on many CC's, this is the cabinet that has the fuel filter, air restrictor gauge, some fuses and circuit like breakers, and either a knob or a key switch to accomplish the disconnect. Many RV Repair facilities call this the 'main disconnect'.

Good tip on getting your batteries full charged. Even using a stand alone battery charger. Then do some checking on the health of the batteries.

The one time I called tech support for Xantrex for help, they walked me thru some items to check, and that got me up and running again. This was few years back, and I've now changed over to a Magnum Purse Sine Wave setup. But you might also call them to ask for some guidance on items to check.

And enjoy the new rig. Lots of systems to learn, and part of that learning process is debugging some mysteries along the way:)!

What about the refrigerator or blinds? Doesn't that suck alot to invert?
