'14 Jeep GC Summit Towing

Yahoo Message Number: 107577
Would someone who tows a 2014 Jeep GC Summit please give me some advise? This truck is"new to me" but I know how to put the Quadra Track II into neutral for towing. But it is not clear to me if there are any additional steps. Does the transmission automatically go into park after you check it in reverse and move it back to neutral? Of course I know about using the emergency brake and releasing it once the truck is attached to the tow bars but is there anything else I need to do? I read that you need to run the Jeep's engine at least every 24 hours to keep the air bags full. Thanks for any advice/help in advance!

I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee (non summit or overland). It does not have the air system. However, when I was researching to buy I did cover that ground regarding the towing with the air system. It was recommended to run the engine a bit before towing for the day. The rest is correct in that with the parking brake set, engine off, hold the brake down, turn key to on, shift to neutral and hold in the small button and after a few seconds the dash will respond something like 4wd disabled. At that point place shifter to park. Test by carefully releasing the parking brake and push the vehicle. It should move freely. My GC has no steering wheel lock so good to go. My understanding on the air system is that it is an assist. With no air in it there is still cushion on the suspension.

Steve

Actually, the owners manual is incorrect. The online version has been corrected.
