Zone temp readings

Do you guys have the same, or close to same, temperature readings in the 3 zones? My zone 2 is 7 degrees higher than zone 1 and 3. I have a new thermostat, and I just replaced the zone 2 thermistor today, but it reads the same high reading as old one. Above the thermistor, in cabinetry, is a switch plate with 3 ceiling light dimmer switches. Maybe that throws off the heat, but that seems like a big temp differential to me. I have reset the thermostat by pulling the fuse, but that doesn't seem to affect it. Zone 2 still reads high. Can you think of anything else I can do?

Mine does the same differential, I attribute it to the heat the refrigerator generates. Seems if I leave the vent fan open the differential is only about 1 degree...

Relocate the temp sensor to a more open area. That is not influenced by the dimmer switches.

All three of mine read differently. The one for the front, in the thermostat, always reads high in the summer because of all the heat from the windshield. The thermosistor in the rear reads high in the heat of the day too. The one in the middle always reads low. When it's hot out I set the middle unit low enough to help cool. No need in making two units do all the work when there is a third.

Yes I do the same, I have a little sticky on inside of cabinet with temp offsets for daytime and nighttime. I was just wishing to get them all normalized, but I can work around it. I am really searching for things to do on my coach, lol

Gregg, just be patient your coach is at this very moment thinking of what to break next, so that you will have plenty to do.
Don't sweat the thermostats, they can 't be fixed anyway.

So you can adjust the thermostat to alter the zone temperature readings? I read through my book on the RV Comfort ZC and it does not show that. It makes sense that one might be able to do that, it is a good idea, but I don't see how to do it. At least my book does not show how.

Could not agree more. My coach, I have found, even thinks about what major thing to break next at rest with the batteries disconnected. Never mind the thermostat.

Google the make and model of thermostat you have. Most likely the owners manual is online if you do not have it in your stack of books.

You may need to find the installation manual. Most have temp offset features, but these may not.

I'll study and report back. Did you see my post about welding on the chassis? Do you think by turning off the main switch I will isolate the coach enough or do I need to undo all of the cables? Since the engine batteries don't have a switch I'll disconnect them.

we have the same issue in our short 33' Allure with 2 AC's but we just lower the thermostat to a different temperature than the other zone.

One thing we learned is that all the zones should be on "high" fan when ambient temperatures are hot and with high humidity. Otherwise the AC units will freeze and shut down. We also found out the hard way that if one unit freezes both units don't work. Guess it's due to the energy management system??

Is the thermostat made by Coleman? What is the series number?

Hi greg, if yours is similar to ours the temp readings which eminate from the remote sensors not the thermostat are in very poor locations and do not do a good job of sensing the ambient condition. Zone 1 is located below the electronics cabinet sensing all of the sensible heat generated by the equipment zone 2 sensor is located below a supply outlet sensing the supply air temp and zone 3 is below tv components and senses the solar radiation of the window also so it doesn't supreme me to see temp with a delta t of 7 to 8 degrees, I find a temp I'm comfortable with and forget the disparity Darrell 2pp7 intrigue 12075

Smitty, has written about this subject in great detail. Apparently, they use flat telephone wire, I find that wire to be junk. Most telephone wire is round. Would be nice if someone could come up with better sensors, that however doesn't do anything for the media or location. Also, another wish list item, is a "Nest" like controller. like they have in homes.

Yes Greg after 30 yrs as a HVAC contractor I tell customers to disregard the number and set the stat to a number that is comfortable
