Slide gasket material Double D

We purchased gasket material for our slide from Kevin Waite. It is the gasket that wipes the side while you retract it. We had the local RV shop install the slide material It has now NOT sticking. We have been told that the RV dealer probably didn't prep the side of the slide properly. We have been trying to find out what we can use to get it to stick. We have been told the slide needs to be cleaned and roughed up. We were told by a Country Coach RV tech to use a 3M Super strength tape 3615. But, when calling 3M to verify that this was an appropriate use, we were told it wasn't to be used on powder coat painted aluminum. Does anyone have any suggestions???
