Thomas is correct, but it's worth noting that the PTO comes off the transmission, not the engine. As used by CC, they were "dry" meaning the drive shaft splines are not lubricated, but should be greased as part of normal service. Unfortunately, this is something easily missed, especially if the mechanic isn't familiar with this particular issue. The "wet kit" is a completely new PTO attached to the tranny, in which the drive runs in an oil bath. Basically no maintenance required, though I'm sure the oil needs changing periodically.
