Heat pump

Yahoo Message Number: 117070
Neither heat pumps will come on. They worked this morning but will not come on now. I set the thermostat on heat an choose electric, the aqua hot heat comes on but not electric heat pumps. The thermostat says electric at first an then says gas an electric. I've read that is normal an I have a fifth wheel that works like that but not sure if the inspire is set up like that. All breakers are good an the ac side of the units both work normal. I'm at a loss on this one.

Thanks

What is the outside temp and himidity? What is the current temp and what you set for?
Below 40 heat pumps don't work very well if at all. When the current temp and set temp are more than 5 apart most systems default to the other system.

It's probably too cold outside. If your coach is like our '01 Intrigue, the heat source will automatically switch over if OAT is below a certain level controlled by a thermostat in the heat pumps.

When it worked earlier in the morning it was in the30s. When I say it does not work I don't mean it won't heat I mean it won't even come on. Humidity an temp are irrelevant in this case. What I did figure out is if I only set thermostat 2 degrees above actual room temp the heat pump will come on, if I raise it to 5 above while heat pump is running the aqua heat comes on also. Who walks into a Coach that's 40 degrees an turns on the heat an sets the thermostat to 42 it's ridiculous. I can understand both coming on but not just the aqua heat. The only way both will run is if you do it like I said set thermostat 2 degrees above room temp let it heat pump come on an then raise temp to 70 or whatever an they then they both run. I guess I know how to deal with it now but it's sure a piss poor setup. Thanks for responding

Brian,

Have you tried rebooting the thermostat? Sometimes they get confused. Just turn off the house power (salesman switch) for a short time then back on.

Yes I did a hard reset on the whole Coach. It's just aggravating I guess that it won't work the way you ask it to lol. I keep it in my unheated but well insulated shop that hardly ever gets below 40. I leave my aqua hot on electric just in case, diesel is not an option inside of course. Anyway the heat on electric side of aqua hot is pretty poor, but the heat pump works good when it will comes on. I don't hardly ever use the heat pump but I've never had an issue like this where it wouldn't come on at all. It's just defaults to aqua hot if the temp is set to high. I think they both probably came on in the past which is ok I probably didn't even hear the aqua hot furnace fans running before over the louder heat pump. But just aqua hot on electric for heat is not that great.
How is your inspire set up ?

Thanks
