Charging problem

Yahoo Message Number: 109122
2003 country coach allure. 11v to 12v on dash meter. Removed alt and it checked ok. With gen running 14v reading on dash meter until batteries reach full charge then it drops back to 12v. Hate to replace batteries if that's not problem. Have red light on panel in next bay back but can't find what that might be.
