Introduction of new member

Good Afternoon,
My wife and I own a 2007 37ft Country Coach Allure 470 motorhome. We purchased it from Premiere RV in Junction City 2.5 years ago.  We live in it full time now and love it.

We have a slight problem with the coach, the brake lights stay on continually. When we stop for the night I have to pull the 20 amp brake light relay (fuse?) to turn them off. I believe the brake light switch is stuck, but I do not know where up front it is located or what it would look like. I would appreciate it if someone could help me locate it so I could replace it. Thank you.

Scott,

Click on the link below and look at the second picture. In the lower left just above the compressor you'll see a round thing with a metal ring around the outside and black plastic in the middle. It has a red and orange wire attached. That is the brake light switch in my 2007 Inspire. This is located in the electrical bay outside and below the drivers seat.

Thank you Barney, the picture is just what I needed. I do remember seeing something like that in the electrical bay. Now all I need is to do is find someone with a replacement here in the Rio Grand Valley.
Thank You

Scott,I couldn't find one like the original so I went with this:
Bendix K101997 Air Brake Stop Light Switch, 3-6 PSI Activation, Replaces Obsolete 286404N:

Charles,

It works great. Takes a little time but it does the job in a pinch. I use it to air up the Jeep tires also. Does this very quickly. It is also used as the supplementary compressor for the HWH. Much better than what came with the coach. Very happy with the installation.

Barney,

Thank you for the information. I've been to 4 auto stores here in McAllen, TX and none of them had a switch. I have two more truck stores to check before I order one on line.

Question, did you change out the brake light switch yourself? If so, was there any air pressure in the line when you disconnected if?

Thank You

Scott

Nice compressor replacement, Barney. I may do that myself one of these days. But that raises a question: I have the "standard" HWH compressor, and there's a quick-release on its plumbing with a coiled air hose on it. Assuming I could use that to air-up a low tire, I got myself a 50' hose and a heavy-duty tire chuck. But now I wonder if that HWH compressor really would provide air at say 110 psi? Given that it's going to take quite a bit of time, has anybody used the standard compressor to air tires?

The only time that has air pressure on it is when you are applying the brakes.

I have been using the "doubler" built & sold by Dickson Tire in Junction City, OR for 8 yrs It is spendy at $550 but it works great & I have never regretted the purchase. Comes in a Pelican box with a coiled 50' hose. Logan 07 Inspire #52000

Well, I finally figured out my brake light problem. After purchasing and replacing my brake light switch, and the brake lights still stayed on, I knew that it was not the brake light switch that was causing the problem. So after staring at the chassis electrical compartment for 20 minutes, I finally saw a relay that was labeled "Brake Lights". Don't know why I didn't see it earlier, I replaced the relay and all is working as it should. Thank you all for suggesting what to look for.
