Electrical problem

Yahoo Message Number: 118142
I have a weird problem with my shore power. Last night, there red light on the panel came on and the "120" green light started blinking. I checked to see if power was getting to the receptacle and found 122 volts. But nothing inside the coach...only power I get is with the inverter. So something is blocking the shore power.

Before taking the coach out of storage, one of the Xantrex inviters went bad with the same visual symptoms as now, i.e. solid red light and blinking green "120" light and solid green "inv" light. Took it offline since I really only need one any way. Makes me suspect the other inverter has gone bad, but I am still getting 110 power from it. Dropped the battery voltage down to 12.1v, so now I'm running the generator. Unable top get charger to work on shore power.

Since it is Sunday, nobody to call and everyone in this area is booked solid (near Bend, Oregon. I'm wondering if I might have tripped the surge protector? I'm "sharing a 50amp circuit with a pull trailer, but he has no problem. Perhaps there was a spike that tripped the protector? I looked around in the bay with the Xantrex and nothing looked amiss....echo charger was blinking green and no fuses looked bad.

Not sure what to do next. I'm not terribly electrically sophisticated, so don't want to screw anything up by experimenting. Any help/ideas would n]be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Sounds like the Surgeguard or ATC. Check to see if you have power coming out of them.

What Greg said. Take your voltmeter and progress into the coach taking readings as you go. Follow the wires.

Suggest checking the Surgeguard for power, the 2 line led lights should be lit when plugged into the shore power. If they are lit the problem is probably the transfer switch. The switch works with the genset and not shore power. If the leds are not lit, it's shore power or Surgeguard problem. If one led is lit could be shore power or your cord reel.

Hope this helps,

Problem solved...at least it seems to be. I had set the maximum amp charge for the batteries at 24 and apparently this was a mite too high. I think amp usage exceeded my share of the "50 amp circuit" with my neighbor and the system shut down. After running the genes for 2 1/2 hours, everything seems to have righted itself.

And, I set the max draw back down to 12 amps where I usually keep it. And, my neighbor who I was sharing with left, so some combination of things worked.

Thanks for the help and ideas. Let's hope it stays fixed...kind of in the boonies with no cell service, so hard to communicate.
