30amp vs. 50amp

Is it ok to run these coaches on 30amp running both A/C's?

I know 50 is preferred, but any drawbacks to using 30amp?

They will not start at the same time, once running they should be ok provided nothing else is putting a draw and the a/c's are in perfect shape.

On 30 amp with 2 A/C's running, I don't use the Microwave, but I also flip the breaker off on the electric for the water heater.
On 15 amp, with one A/C on, don't forget to turn off the water heater as well.

Good instructions by other members about how to run on 30A by shedding various loads.

Just a reminder that when comparing 30A vs 50A, is that it is NOT a 20A difference -- it is 70A!!! What we know as 50A service is really TWO 50A circuits (one on each hot leg that is each 120V to ground or 240V between the two hot lines.

Turn off the Electric element in the water heater, start one Air Conditioner at a time to get bother running, don't use the microwave and, I think unmentioned in the other posts, turn down the battery charge rate, or off completely.

I have run mine numerous times on 30A. I have three A/C units but I only run two on 30A. That is pretty much a full load. I can still watch TV and such but if I need the microwave or the wife wants to use a hair dryer I'll turn off at least one A/C, sometimes both. Also, I do not run the electric side of the Hydro-Hot either. When I do fire up the A/C's I start one at a time. Let the first one get going then turn on the second one.

8500 will not run both AC units on 30 Amp without tripping the breaker the minute you turn another appliance on.

The QD 8000 puts out 66.66 amps which is 33.33 amps per leg.

Yes, the two will draw about 34amps. Simple numbers tell you that a 30amp service should not continuously run 34amp without wiring getting hot, voltage changes etc.... One AC unit on 30amps safely.

The two AC units will draw around 34 amps when running, starting in excess of 40amps if both come on at once..

Any additional loads ( microwave, TV's, chargers for phones etc) will increase the load above the 34 amps....

I have most all of my coach converted to DC from AC to keep the AC draw to a minimum and only for certain items... AC, Microwave, hair dryers.....

Computers are all DC now, TV's DC, lights all LED, no need for the inverter almost all the time....

We have two 3,000 watt Magnum (hybrid) inverters in our 2005 Magna. These units will dip into the battery bank to make up for needed power, when we are plugged into 30 amp, and need more power. After the needed surge, it will recharge the batteries. There must be sufficient energy in the batteries or you will trip the breaker. This has happened only once, when we only had three of the four 8d batteries hooked up and I was not being careful with the electrical load.

I believe that the 2016 Allure built as a prototype used one of these inverters.
