Winterizing ice maker lines

Hi all

We successfully walked thru all the youtube videos and winterized our 2006 Inspire Sienna. The only area we couldn't find any instructions on was for the icemaker lines. Surely these need to be blown out as the lines are so tiny. I can only access them from the outside panel. Any hints of how I can be sure they don't freeze?

If you have power to the MoHo or nearby, put a heating pad behind the refrigerator on the low setting. It will keep both the water valve and lines from freezing.

The blue solenoid valve on the back of the frig is the most susceptible to freezing and you must purge that valve. Take both waterlines off the valve, allow them to drain, then go inside and remove the white cover off the end of the icemaker. Use a screwdriver to them move the small nylon gear until the icemaker starts to cycle. Let it complete the cycle, then do it again. You should then be all set. Safe travels.

Yes 1 have a residential refrigerator but the heating pad works great on an RV refrigerator also. I have taped the vent holes closed and added a sheet of rigid foam insulation. I have also done the same to the roof vent. I lay the heating pad behind the door. I also put a heating pad on low around my water pump.

Hi, Don,i was just outside looking at our 2000 magna 5886 water bay and pump area woundering what type of heat to add to that area, just found a 15 amp spare ckt in the ceiling mark frig-frez spare, what type of heat did you add Thamks Charles

I winterize my lines by driving south until the temp hits 75 degrees, then I park it until spring.

Besides blowing out all the water lines with compressed air I put a heating pad in the water pump compartment set on low. This has kept the pressure sensor switch on the end of the pump from freezing. I do the same at the back of the refrigerator to keep the ice maker solenoid and lines from freezing. We live at 8200' in the Colorado Rockies where lows can reach -20. This has worked the best for me, even with occasional power outages. My wife also doesn't like the pink antifreeze.

Perfect, Jim. That's our technique too! And until we can get on the road, I keep it in covered storage with the Aqua-Hot running on electricity, thermostat at 55F. Works beautifully...

I use an inexpensive analog heating pad from Walgreens or Walmart. They have lasted several seasons. I also head south, Tucson, AZ, in January and stay until May. It just so happens my motorhome is already in Tucson this year so I don't have to winterize, but this year is unusual.
