Pressurized fresh water hose on 2005 Magna

What would cause the fresh water hose to be pressurized? With about 20 gallons in the fresh water tank, I turned off the auto fill and water pump and shore spigot. When I started to unscrew the water hose it was under pressure and water was squirting out. I assumed it was momentary and continued to unscrew it. Water continued to squirt out and I heard the coach's water pump come on. After I got the hose off, the pump stopped. A week or so before, there was water in the water hose reel compartment when I hooked up at a campground. It also happened last year, so is intermittent.

Does anyone have an idea how to troubleshoot this problem? There are several components involved such as the auto fill valve, the manual switch in the wet bay (as well as in the bathroom), as well as diodes. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

When you auto water fill, the water pump should be off. It is just city water filling the tank, no water pump involved. My auto fill automatically shuts off water pump before auto fill will start. So try shutting off water pump, and then auto fill from city water spigot. If that works fine, you have an intertie between auto fill and the pump that is broken.

Does your coach have a check valve in the water fill input line? If so, perhaps it needs replacing.

Sure your water pump was turned off? I've put an LED across the water pump relay that the water fill board controls so I have a visual indication when there is power to the water pump.

Greg, yes my water pump also goes off when I turn on the tank fill from the Silverleaf whole coach monitor. Both the water pump and the tank fill were off when I was outside. When I turned shore water off there should not have been any pressure (or at least, not much) in the hose. As I unscrewed the water hose, water sprayed out and the coach's water pump came on. It continued to leak (and I got fairly wet) until the hose was completely off the spigot at which point the pump turned off.

I don't think the low water pressure that normally induces the water pump to come on should pressurize the hose side. The water pump switch in the bathroom is not the same as the switch in the wet bay but I don't know how they differ.

Pete, I don't know about a check valve. There are two ways to put fresh water in the tank; thru the hose (on a reel), and manually, unscrewing a plastic cap and fulling the tank from a regular white hose. There might be a check valve upstream of the hose reel but I don't know.

Tom, I am not near my coach, but there is a switch in wet bay (Pump or Bypass). How do you have that set? Should be on Bypass I think. Maybe test with that.

This should be simple I have a 2007 Intrigue there is a one way valve past the manual fill valve it serves two purposes first is so water won't come back from tank thru the fill valve and secondly and more importantly water from your tank will never enter the parks potable water supply. My supply hose is always under pressure when I disconnect

I don't have a manual fill valve. There is a place to manually put in potable water, but no associated valve with it. I fill the tank via the Silverleaf (which has an electronic switch) inside the coach, or I can unscrew a small plastic cap in the wet bay and fill directly from a hose. I have never filled the tank using the manual method. It would probably be better to have a manual valve, like I have had on other coaches.
