Generator "Petsafe" Auto Start Question

Our Silverleaf has an option in the Generator Menu for "Thermostat" which I assume is a Hi-Temp Thermostat that when closed, energizes the Generator (Cummins 10Kw) Auto-Start so that in the event of a power failure the A/C would continue to run for "Pet-Safe" reasons. I've set the condition on the Silverleaf to "Enabled" , shut down Shore Power and Set the A/C to a low temp - thinking that the A/C Zone Control Boards are what control the Genset Autostart. My thinking was to set the thermostats really low (Like 60 deg) and that should "force" the Genset to autostart. An hour later, its plenty warm in the coach (We are FL in the 80's) and no Genset Autostart.

From a troubleshooting perspective, if the "Petsafe" feature is controlled by the Zone Control Boards in the A/C units (Coleman Mach 3 15K BTU), then any ONE of the THREE units would signal a Genset Start. So far, no go. Does anyone know if there is a separate temp circuit that controls the Petsafe and where that would be located?

Am I missing something? One of my thoughts was that its not the Room Thermostats but a separate thermostat on the zone control board that is "hard wired" to a specific temp (Like 80 deg.) that sets the Genset to Autostart.

As usual, when I'm stumped, I throw it out to the group. If I find the solution myself, I'll post it for everyone.

I have been all over this one Jim. I too did exactly as you did with the thermostat setting in SL, but to no avail, it still would not work. Unless you have the Petsafe option listed on your build sheet, you don't have it (despite the thermostat setting in SL). Apparently, the Affinity's came with them as standard, but all the other models it is an option that had to be installed at the factory. Of course you could probably retrofit it if you wanted, just get your checkbook out. I have decided to give up on it.

I bought a "Temperature Stick" ($150) and use my iPad personal hotspot left in coach for Wifi, and if I lose shore power and A/C's go off, I will get a text on my phone that temp is above a setpoint in the coach, and I can return to save the dog. I actually think though, with the amount of insulation in our coaches, it would be hard to hurt the dog with too high of temps. It's not like a car with glass windows. So the dog may be uncomfortable, but it will survive...

so did you check quiet hours to make sure they are not causing an issue? Also the silverleaf must be left on.

good luck

At one time when I enquired about a coach pet safe feature of the Silver Leaf I was told it required a separate adjustable thermostat and possibly a separate module I use a cell
Phone based temp monitor that reports coach temp every 30 minutes to my phone and
Also reports loss of power If power is lost we want to return to the coach Bob 06 Intrigue. 12047

On my 02 Magna with a Silverleaf 240, Silverleaf just had me go buy a certain type of Honeywell wall thermostat and wire it in and set something in the Silverleaf. It performed the pet safe function. What I didn't like was that the thermostat and the Silverleaf turned on the generator and the air conditioner but when the temperature dropped it simply shut down the generator. Not the best thing for your generator or your transfer switch.
