Allison ECM power source

Am AOG in a public park in Mesa AZ. Tranny mode light is on depowering the starting circuits. Am trying a power down reset per Allison telephone tech. Disconnecting chassis batteries does not depower the mode light. Does anyone know the power source of the Allison ECM and how to unpower it?? Allison telephone tech is not familiar with CC wiring.

Brian,

Your Echo Charger is keeping power to the chassis power as it should. As well as disconnecting the chassis battery you need to remove one of the two fuses going to or from the Echo Charger. That should take care if your problem.

I have heard others have a problem with water getting into the plug on drivers side of the transmission, causing gremlins. Maybe you can unplug, clean, and reconnect that? Please report back what you find.

Good Morning Brian,

Usually, the Allison ECM gets it's power directly from the batteries without passing through any other disconnects or fuses.

If you can access your chassis batteries, you will likely see a lighter gauge(8-10ga.) set of wires connecting directly to the batteries. Those are the power source for the Allison. It needs very good, low voltage drop, power hence the need for direct connection to the battery. Disconnect one or both of those wires and you should see the allison display go dark.

On my Inspire, the ECM is located in the bay directly underneath the driver. I had trouble with my ECM because the connector came loose. You can power down the ECM by removing the connector. On mine it was two bolts, remove connector, wait for a few minutes and reconnect.

Barnie wins the prize. It was the echo charger that kept the ECM powered. Disconnected the batteries for the second time and pulled the plug on the charger and that did the trick. The ECM did reset itself and the coach fired right up.
Stopped by WW Williams in Phoenix for an ECM read and all was okay. By the way there is a new software version for the Allison 4000 which they installed. Thanks for all who replied.
