Sliding Closet Door

Need some help with identifying a part I need to replace.

We lately have been having a difficult time keeping the closet door latched during travel.

Finally had time to look at it and take it off.

Picture #1 is the part that is inside the sliding closet door. The Black part is what gets latched to the part that is attached to the closet frame.
Picture #2 shows how it is attached to the door with screws.

Picture #3 kinda shows some type of nut on one of the screws that is inside the frame. this should tighten the wood block for the latching mechanism.

Picture #4 and #5 show the part that apparently broke, causing the wooden block to move and prevent the door latching to door frame.

Regarding picture 4 and 5. Unsure if you can tell by the picture(s) but the outside of this 'NUT" appears to have some type of flange or fingers
that stick out and grip the inside of the door holding the block in place.

Does anyone know what that "part" is called, so I can google it? ? ? ?

Had that problem, went to RV parts place and bought a simple screw on plastic device that holds door closed. Opens with a little tug.

Is it a 2 piece part. One for the door and the other for the frame?

Was it Camping world or some other similar type business?

I had a similar problem on my previous coach. Finally cut a 1/2x1/2 piece of wood to lay in the sliding door track when it was time to move. Kept the door closed. My recently purchased Country Coach already came equipped with dowels cut to size for the doors.

These are called Southco Grabber Latches, yours may be the black 5lb latches. If you change them out to the 10lb latches
your problem should go away.

It's not the black part. The 2 screws on the wooden part screw into some type of metal flange
On the slider. It's that part that is on the metal door frame or should say inside the frame I need.

With both my former Allure and Current Intrigue I use a cut to length dowl rods to keep the sliding doors in place. Traveling in the coastal mountains of California, Oregon and the narrow winding roads of the Rocky Mountains can place a strain on the plastic snap latches. TWI 2004 intrigue 11731

Don't know the name but ours broke and I took the parts to a local towable rv dealer and he had them on his merchandise rack
Might not be identical, but should be easy to swap out.

I had the same problem, Dave. Tried several "fixes" that didn't work. Finally I drilled out the holes in the wood block and screwed it to the door-frame with #10 sheet metal screws. So far, that's doing the job. When that fails, I'll probably go the wood dowel route...

Don, that is what I probably end up doing.
Some think it is the black piece that latches the door to the frame, but that is not the problem, it works great.
My problem is that wooden block that attaches to the closet sliding door. the piece that is inside
the door gave away and the wooden block just swings and does not allow the two black piece to come together to lock.

I replace the factory latches on the sliding mirror with 2 on each mirror and they are the 5lb pull. Then I installed them on all my drawers on the under side so you can't see them. The factory spider latches last about a month after replacing all of them.

I had a similar problem, the wood block hits the frame on the other door when the latch
Releases and knocks the latch out of alignment I added a rubber cushion to the bottom
Door frame so the wood block doesn't hit the frame on the right door works great and no door slamming

Note that on mine, the wood block is only attached to the door frame with to screws on the "outside" edge - on the other side the block is stuck to the back of the mirror with double sided mounting tape. When I put in the larger, sheet-metal screws I also replaced the mounting tape. Gorilla double sided mounting tape is a good replacement (for this and many other uses, like sticking trim on automobiles). I always keep some handy...
