Ignition switch

Yahoo Message Number: 115042
Hello group,

I have had some issues with the engine shutting down while moving on the road. Everything goes to zero for 5 to 10 seconds, but then Re-starts by turning key off and on. I searched and found some posts from a few years ago with the same issue and it was solved by replacing the ignition switch. Looks like a simple job that I can do myself. So all I need is to find the replacement switch and that is where you all can help?

Regards,

I had same issue it was the ignition solenoid located by the engine compartment bought one at Napa auto parts. Happened a couple times after hitting a bump on the freeway, kinda scary. But an easy fix

Had the same problem on an ’02 Intrigue with ISL370. Ignition switch is a good place to check. In my case, it was merely a loose wire connection on the back of the ignition switch. Hopefully yours is equally as simple.Steve #11382  Sent from Mail for Windows 10

I just recently bought a new ignition switch at O'Reilys, Dorman part #86913...about $15. Was on a rotating parts rack on their floor.

Thanks for the feedback. I will start with the ignition solenoid which I found in the electric bay under driver seat. Napa could not match this so I bought it online for $ 20. If that does not solve this issue, I will move to switch.

I've had problems with the ignition solenoid and the coach would not start. Had it replaced by a truck repair service. That solenoid lasted 3 weeks when the contacts fused and I couldn't stop the engine. I replaced the solenoid with a Cole Hersee 24213. This solenoid has a 200 amp rating with silver contacts. Think I paid about $40.

When the solenoid is replaced make sure the diode is installed with the proper orientation. Otherwise, the diode will short circuit the voltage to ground and the coach will not start until the diode burns out. But then, you won't have the diode protecting your circuits. The truck repair service installed the diode in reverse and I didn't discover it until I replaced the coil.
