Battery Tray

I need a slideout battery tray for my 2003 Lexa. The House battery compartment came with stacked double slideout trays (each holding 2 8D batteries side by side). The original owner replaced the 8D's with Rolls Surrette batteries (that are 17.5" tall) and thus removed the upper tray. The side rail receivers are still there and bolted to the sides of the bay, but the tray and slide hardware are long gone.

I've since replaced the batteries with 4 Lifetime AGM's. Actually just 2 for now, the other 2 are awaiting a tray to be placed on.

I can have one fabricated, but if original (or used) parts are available somewhere, that'd no doubt be easier (not to say cheaper). I'm sure the house and chassis battery trays are all identical, and I can't imagine it's bespoke to the Lexa.

Any leads would be appreciated.

Jim - You might get your measurements, and then call around to some of the RV Salvage places and ask if any of the CC's they have in stock, have the matching tray size. Suspect Magna and Affinity coaches of similar era, might be the most likely to match.

Or, maybe do the same thing the previous owner did. Stay with the tall lifelines. We're pleased with the performance of our X's 4 L16 6V Lifeline's, for 800AH. It's not 1020AH as X's 4 8D's would do for you, but if doing mostly shore power to shore power usage - suspect it would support you well.

If no luck on the salvaged tray, a welding shop building you a tray should not be too cost prohibitive. They's just model it after your lower tray. (That, I suspect you knew.)

A final suggestion, is to contact Kevin Waite - it's amazing the odd's & end's he has available, or knows of... :)!

Jim,

Being that you're going with AGM batteries you don't need the tray to be a slider as the batteries don't need maintenance other than checking connections. What we do a lot is just build a self to hold the batteries with a solid tie down system to accommodate the batteries.
