Thomas A/C Compressor fail...

Yahoo Message Number: 115955
My OTR air conditioner compressor (Thomas) failed recently. We were very lucky. We were at a rest area and decided to check the alternator (for an unrelated charging issue) and heard a rattling sound. Looking closer, you could see the A/C compressor clutch was off center about 1/8 to 1/4". When I switched off the engine the belt started smoking from the heat of the pulley and snapped. I was able to continue on the trip by replacing the original serpentine belt with a shorter one and by-passing the compressor. I have not been able to fine any information on the Thomas compressors online. Questions are: Can the clutch be replaced? Is the Thomas Compressor still available? Is there a suitable replacement?

I have replaced my failed OTR compressor (2x) with a TM-15 type compressor.

Seltec is a common name.

Type "TM-15 Compressor" into a search engine to see if the compressors displayed look similar to yours. Most will have the AC Clutch attached and the configuration of the pulley wheel is important to match what you currently have.

If they do not look like what your rig has mounted, then I am of no help.
