Wood finish problem

Yahoo Message Number: 8959
We have the 'natural' finish Cherry cabinets and trim in our Intrigue. The wood trim around the window over the sink is showing signs of stress due to water. (SHE says it's all my fault!).

Do any of you wood workers/finishers know how we can fix the stains on the trim without making it look too different from the other wood in the MH?

Thanks.

Jim, this is not hard to fix.

I assume you mean "light Cherry" wood like we have in our coach.
This really darkens up with age.

Go to HomeDepot, and pick up a small can of Cherry stain, and one of Natural stain, to use to "thin out" the Cherry. You can mix up small amounts, starting "light" and just touch up the area. It should take it, since the sealer has been worn off. You could then top it with some varnish. (they have some in a can you can spray on) Worst case, pop off the window trim, sand off the sealer, refinish, and re-seal.

I have built new window surrounds, added a cabinet at the front by the passenger, and no one can tell the diff.

I had to do a lot of refinishing on my Monaco. Just used sand paper, 200 grit and spray laquere(sp) that I bought at Home Depot. Worked good and blended in well. I had natural finish cherry.

Thanks to all who have offered ideas on how to deal with the wood finish problem. I tested the stain and spray finish on a piece of trim leftover from some cabinet work.
That seems to be the best way to deal with my water stained wood over the sink.

Thanks again.
